Have you ever wished you could have your computer magically ready and waiting for you when you come home? Have you ever longed for some way to have certain files open and ready for work the moment you walk in the door? This sounds like some crazy, futuristic stuff, but with Blue Butler, it is possible right now.

Blue Butler tells your Mac Book to do certain things when a Bluetooth device comes within range. For example, you could tell it to open up a certain file when your iPhone connects, and that way when you get to your computer, it will be open and ready for you to do whatever you need it for. It’s a very cool way to get you on the computer and accomplishing tasks quicker.

You can connect an unlimited number of devices to Blue Butler. You can set each one to cause it to respond in a different way. So if you want it to respond differently between your iPad and iPhone, that is easily possible. The application comes with a handy help feature, so if you are having a hard time setting everything up, this will guide through the process.

  • Make your Mac do certain things when a Bluetooth devices comes in range.
  • Saves time by having your files ready to go when you sit down on the computer.
  • Connect to unlimited devices.
  • Help section guides you through the setup process.
  • Uses AppleScript to make your mac do almost anything.

Find Blue Butler on the Mac App Store for $1.99 but the first 25 people to comment on this post will receive a promo code to get the app for free!

This has interesting possibilites! I like the idea of making my laptop aware that my phone is nearby (which can be interpreted as 'I' am nearby).

This is indeed interesting. I like the idea of making my macbook 'aware' that my iphone is around (which also means that I am around). Lots of possibilities.
