Last week’s poll was all about your computers’ age. We asked you to tell us how old your current computer is, and we got some interesting results. Before you read on, what do YOU think was the most popular answer? You might be surprised!
Out of 1,158 votes in total, the breakdown was as follows: 32% have 5 years old or older computer, 30% have a 3-4 years old computer, 21% have a 1-2 years old computer, 11% have a computer that’s less than a year old, and 6% just got a brand new computer.
Full results and this week’s poll after the jump.
Surprised? So were we! Although we do guess that most of the older computers are desktops, and your elaborate and useful comments seem to support this.

This week’s poll question is: Bigger Screen For The iPhone 5, Good Or Bad?
iPhone 5 rumors are slowly but surely getting out of hand. With a launch date sometime around September (or so we think), a new detail about the iPhone 5 is published almost every day. With Apple being Apple, no one knows anything for sure, but an insistent rumor, started on 9to5mac, tells us the new iPhone might finally get a bigger display. With other devices slowly getting bigger and bigger, the iPhone has been stuck with its 3.5 inch screen ever since its launch. While Apple maintained that this is the perfect size for a smartphone, they might be making the iPhone 5 bigger, or maybe just longer. What do YOU think about it?
Share in the comments why you think a bigger screen is a good or bad idea. Will it change your mind about buying the iPhone 5?

I don’t care about iPhones.
I’m an android guy all the way – I dislike the lockdown and lack of choice Apple provide. It’s one company for the hardware and software, and they dictate your choice is limited to what colour you want.
They have a small merit for compatibility, but even going from here and offering a few different screen sizes would be a step in the right direction. All of my problems with Apple in the end boil down to lack of freedom and overpricing – the iPhone a prime example of both.
I actually doubt they will offer several different screen sizes. That doesn’t sound like Apple. If they decide to change the screen size, that size would be the perfect size and the only one you can get, same as with the current one.
I guess we’ll wait and see!
That’s the thing – there is no perfect size. My friend used my old phone for a while, but had to trade it in because it gave her hand cramps for being too big – and I thought it was too small! They wouldn’t have to do every size under the sun – but even two models would be a step in the right direction.
I’ve never heard anyone complain that the iPhone’s too big! How much smaller can you go? Maybe a Galaxy Mini. Interesting.
I wasn’t saying the iPhones too big lol – I was saying some people would find it too small. It’s alright for me, my friend would find it perfect, and my brother would find it utterly titchy.
I think it should be bigger (mainly to compete with all the android phones with larger displays) but not too big. I would probably be fine with it just being taller, and I feel that Apple will probably do that mostly because of app support. If they make the screen wider, that can make it a little more difficult to change your app to fit the new screen. Making it only taller makes it a little easier, because you can just enlarge how much of a list or scroll view shows and it will work pretty much the same. Plus, it will make it easier to shrink a new app to fit older devices.
Messing with the aspect ratio causes more havoc on apps than expanding it in one direction. Keeping the current aspect ratio would only require developers to embed larger assets, changing the ratios require app layout redesign.
Big (or) Small, it doesn’t bother me; but the Name ” Apple Iphone” does.
All i need is good features.
Apple Iphone has the best battery life, that’s one of the things which i adore.

So, the best battery life. Have you heard of Motorola Razr Maxx?
Nope!
Never heard about it!!!
Bigger is good but a big screen for a phone is weird just like how galaxy note looks when we use it to call someone. Tablet should be bigger but phone size should be a little bit smaller than galaxy note.
Well, Galaxy Note is more of a mini tablet of sorts. It really is huge. But the Galaxy S II and S III are both much smaller, and yet much bigger than the current iPhone. So which one do you like better?
I like android phones more than iphone no matter what the sizes are. A phone with a big screen is not a phone. Bigger iphone screen sounds sucks.
I think the current size is just perfect. I have a HTC One X and do not like how large the screen is. Nice in theory, not in practice – unless you have very large hands. My sister’s iPhone in contrast handles and feels great in the hand due to it’s more moderate size
Interesting. What it is about the bigger screen that you don’t like? Is it hard to reach every spot on the screen? My own Android smartphone is old and has a small screen as well, so I actually never used a larger one of the long run, just when using other people’s devices.
The current screen is better
I don’t care about iphones nor androids,im a Windows fanboy lol
Good choice! Do you own a WP7 device?
I don’t really like those options, because even if I say “Bad”, it’s not because I don’t like the current size.
I strongly believe that the new iPhone won’t have a bigger screen size from a developers perspective. The one thing that Apple people complain about Android is fragmentation, and that there are enough different screen sizes and resolutions from here to the Curiosity on Mars. Android developers have to account for these different screen sizes and have so many different layouts to make sure everyone can have a taste.
So imagine. The iPhone has had a 3.5″ screen since 2007 and that’s what all the developers have been making apps for. (even with the Retina display, they only had to stick in higher-res images). But then the new iPhone comes out and BAM, 4.3″ screen. You know what happens now? All these developers have to waste time and money and go back to fix their apps/add support for the slightly larger screen which could cost the market millions in developing time.
In short, it’s not that I wouldn’t want the iPhone to have a bigger screen, but if you were an iPhone developer… would you?
Probably not. It’s true that it would cause quite a mess. Having not changed the screen at all since the very first iPhone, it would be a crises comparable to the Firefox 4 add-on crisis. :)
Knowing Apple, though, they might have a solution up their sleeve.
Hah, I’ve thought that as well. Kind of like how the iPad handles iPhone compatible apps, but if that’s the case and say the phone is only going to be longer (given the current rumors), I can’t imagine it looking very good.
Time will tell. :)
I’m switching to Android anyway, so I don’t really care.
A bit bigger is GOOD
I hate apples, literally and technologically. they steal technologies from other company, change them a bit, and claim the technologies and theirs. worst of all, they use the patent to hit other companies that has a similar-but-different technology. silly company, silly apples. I still prefer the annoying orange however.
There is no choice left for apple, fanboys expect changes and if they do not get it…
I think they’ll buy the new iPhone anyway. :)
i am an android freak. But i would love iphone if the screen size is a bit larger. There are really many things not gud about the iphone. there are no widgets. and many features due to which android wins over ios. So i’d love a iphone 5 that has a better screen size, and a better os than the android.
.
But if it is a too large screen, then i would rather go for an ipad mini that i wish has a sim slot.
Bad because there will be a little less critics from Android users using the same or a little bigger screen size :p And bad because children or people with really really small hands using it will find it harder to use it. Not that there’s many anyway, though.
Good because those iFanboys who never have tried smartphones with bigger screens(there must be some) will finally open their eyes and try bigger screen sizes.
Either way, I don’t really care about iPhone. Not unless they can break down they walled garden which won’t happen any time soon, or not at all.
Peace.
where is the world getting to? TVs used to be small, then they got big all of the sudden, and now no one cares about big TVs…cell phones were big, got smaller, getting bigger and bigger everyday…
Apple people…the current iphone doesnt fit into my small pockets..where the hell I am going to keep an even bigger one??!
I hope the next iPhone will be a little wider. I’ve seen the iPhone 4S with my own eyes, it’s too small. And from the spec of iPhone 5 that I’ve read even thou it was 4″. Still too small for typing . . .
Well, depends on how you view this. For better movies viewing or email/website searching, there would be improved indeed.
I bet many people would like larger screen for movies, especially for full sreen playback.
