Hi everyone.

Mix is a bit old; I'd recommend Zulu Dj software (free, for non commercial use at least, edited by NCH). It allows to mix two tracks live, and an automatic function is there to syncronize the tracks (but not so well working, most of the time it's better done by yourself).
You can as well put effects like reverb or hight pass filter in live.

Bye! Enjoy electro music!

I agree with you, LoopLabs isn't a DJing program, at least in the sense that you're not actually mixing songs. You're just combining beats and sounds to create songs.

However, with Jam Glue, you can actually upload your own songs, and not just use their database. I found a few really great mixes on that site actually, and the ability to download the tracks you make is actually really useful (and unique, out of all the online music editors i found).

Haha it'd be cool to be able to feature Virtual DJ, but unfortunately, we only cover free software, which severely limits the sites/programs we can write about haha

Well, thats just it - The act of DJing IS "Mixing Tracks"...
It's how you Segway from TRACK-A to TRACK-B.

But thats not what these programs offer, their not DJ programs.

Mixxx was a DJ program. IT was a mixer, realy the only tool you need to start DJing Electronically.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/rock-on-with-free-mixxx-music-mixing-software/

With a name like LOOPLABS it should be pretty obvious for the first one.
It's a LOOP-Based Music Creator. Like Sony ACID-Pro.

>> And my second comment was not worded correctly, I'm sorry. You addressed what I was getting at though.

I don't know if its just me, but when I think of DJing (Since I happen to, DJ, myself) I think of programs like Mixx that actually offer you the ability to play 2 audio tracks, use crossfaders to segway from 1 track to the other, and happen to provide some fun little effects to spice up the MIX. - The MIX being your entire set of songs all mixed together, including whatever alterations you make to it during the mix.
(I happen to use Virtual DJ)

These programs, on the other hand - are like what my Highschool Electronic Music Class was using.

They provide you a number of Pre-Made loops and samples - none are actual songs, and you can mix and mash them together to create your own SONG. - Not a MIX.

These programs make you a composer and producer of Individual Songs with the provided soundclips they make available to you, or allow you to import and Remix your own lil ditties.

> But they most deffinetly are not allowing you to MIX, like a DJ.

Just my 2 cents.
(BTW - The programs at least work NICELY for what they are intended for)

I wasn't aware that I had mixed up the definition of DJing, so thanks for bringing that up to my attention. However, the term "DJ" did at some point carry with it an implication that the DJ would be mixing tracks rather than just playing them. Now it seems as if this definition is passe. What I meant to say is that these apps would allow a person to mix their own music. Is my use of "DJ" distractingly misleading?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your second comment. I did mention that the second program has a database of user created songs, in addition to a database of song effects that the user can use. The first program does have a library of song effects, but not the database of user created songs. I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

At any rate, thanks for the critique!

"Be An Internet DJ" Is a bit of a misleading Title.

> These programs will NOT:
a. Make you a DJ (...a person who selects and plays recorded music for an audience.)
b. Make you an "Internet DJ"

-> What these programs WILL do - is provide a means of mixing and mashing audio to Create your own SONGS.

Making your own songs is fun, I do it too - but its NOT DJing. Not Really.

> And the second program is the only one with any sort of DATABASE to speak of... unless you failed to mention that. How else are you to spread your newly created "song"?

Simply put.
Making Music is Different than DJing.
DJ's often make music, and can even do it During their Mixing, but their still both different things.

Just thought I'd toss that out.
