Even if you don't want to buy BattleFunds to purchase online cards you can always trade gold for a little bit of BF to purchase cards in the auction. Therefore you can theoriticaly enjoy the entire game without spending any cash. The Single, Two-Player and Four-Player PVE maps are very well made as well. There's also the feature of upgrading your cards to make them stronger. I give this game a 9.0 / 10.
