I like it because I can read in total darkness without worrying about turning on the room lights. I’ve set the background of the Kindle app to a manila-color and found it substantially reduces eyestrain.I haven’t tried the iPad, but I imagine that it’s less comfortable to read lying in bed because it’s substantially heavier than the iPhone. As you know, I’m not a big fan of the iPhone, but I do quite like the Kindle app/iPhone device combination and have read many novels this way.

I still can’t BNE to work on the iPhone. It won’t get past the sign in screen, it just crashes and kicks me out to the home screen.

The iPad situation was a bit better but still problematic. I tried to download a book but kept getting errors about a credit card (the dialog box was named Download and the error was: Unlock credit card missing billing address. Update account.) After spending 10+ minutes looking around BNE and the website I couldn’t find any way to fix this. I finally added a new credit card to my B&N account (in addition to the 2 others kept on file) and I was able to download my book.

I have been quite happy with the iBooks and Kindle app and see BNE as very distant third choice.
