AutomateIt is an Android app that is designed to make your life easier by automating various tasks on your Android device. It lets you define how your device should behave in response to an event on your Android device by creating a rule. For example, you can make your device automatically increase the volume when the headset is unplugged, or send an SMS to a contact when you exit a specified geographical area, or start an application when WiFi is enabled. There are countless rules you can create based on your needs.
Each rule consists of a Trigger and Action. The app supports many types of triggers and actions. A trigger can be a low battery, SMS from contact, Bluetooth connected or not, incoming call or even a location based trigger (arriving or exiting a defined region). An action is a response to a trigger which can be Play Sound, Set Volume, Start application, Vibrate, Dial phone number, Kill Application and others.
When you download and launch the app, it provides a default set of useful rules to get you started including “Low battery warning”, “Unmute by SMS”, “Max volume when headset unplugged”, “Quiet at night” and others. The rule “Quiet at night”, for example, automatically gets your device into silent mode between 11 p.m and 9 am. Every rule is highly customizable based on the long list of provided triggers and actions.
Recently it launched experimental triggers that detects when you are in a car, on a bicycle, on foot or standing still. These features are still experimental and might not work as advertised.
