In a major update, Pixlr Touch Up has added 100 new overlay effects and new adjustment tools to the popular app for Chrome and Chrome OS. In a strong nod to the Instagram generation, you’ll find vignetting, light painting, bokeh, fireworks, and light leaks as the new members for overlay effects. The touch-up tools are the key components of the app, allowing casual and pro-photographers the luxury of quickly making corrections in their photos without firing up more heavyweight photo-editing software. The new tools add to the usefulness.

Autodesk said that most of the updates come from their other popular free online photo editor – Pixlr Express. Pixlr Express has nearly 600+ effects, and Autodesk has selected the ones it expects to be used most often.

We don’t want to overstuff this developing app with all 600+ effects from Pixlr Express, but we do want to make this app more robust and add things people clearly like to use.

Sharpen and Blur are the two new adjustment options to add to your photo tweaks. Autodesk has wrapped all the new features in a simplified interface. The clutter-less layout has a new menu for Effects with larger previews.

Pixlr Touch Up

Pixlr Touch Up runs offline and it can be used outside Chrome in a separate window of its own. With nearly half-a-million users on Chrome; and with the twin assets of free and ad-free software… there’s little hesitation in choosing to use this strong application.

I installed Pixlr Touch Up in Google Chrome browser, but for some reason, it doesn't work--it says that there's a problem initialising WebGL.
