Have you been to the Apple homepage today? The entire page has been replaced with one image hinting at a big announcement coming tomorrow.

All we know is that it’s iTunes related and that they will put an end to our guessing by tomorrow morning, US time. Apple fans on the other side of the continent will have to get through most of their day before finding out what’s going on.

The rumours are flying about, from subscription based purchasing on iTunes to a web-based version of iTunes. The mysterious announcement isn’t all that’s expected from Apple, with iOS 4.2 slated to be available to iPhone and iPad users any day now, with some sources reporting as soon as tomorrow.

What do you think it’s going to be? Let us know in the comments.

I think four of a kind, would that be exciting enough :)
    1. iOS 4.2 for iPad and iPhone,
    2. Audio and video integrated into iTunes running over 3G aka AirVideo/Streamtome
    3. Gaming center integrated into iTunes and wireless Pay capabilities
    5. MicroSim with memory, now provided by Apple and usable for Any Carrier

Ahh don't use the [News] tags or become a news blog. "makeuseof" is a blog not for news, but for information you can "make use of". Don't change that.

We are testing covering news topics about developments you can "make use of" ;-)

Some new overhyped reinvention of an existing technology that tech bloggers and journalist will fawn over. And it will be overpriced. :)

Could be a streaming music service, but apparently music execs don't know about that so seems unlikely. Other rumors say a cut down mobile.me, which it better not be as I renewed mine today for £69, and I'm really sure what that has to do with iTunes, either!

I think it's more likely to be some kind of Ping extension, like the Facebook integration that was originally planned.

Or perhaps, a way to stream your own music library over teh internetz? That would be quite good. InternetAirPlay, I expect they'll call it...

My money is on streaming music service. And it had better be good, or I will be rather angry about their failure to bring back Lala. If you buy a company that makes something this well, integrate it into your monstrous and surpisingly good music service, you'd better not fail at it.

That would be pretty cool wouldn't it? But I'm guessing it's a subscription based service for downloading rather than streaming. We'll find out soon enough.
