According to what people were saying here a while back, 20 days seems like a lot to receive the box. But I would hang in there a while more, maybe now when the initial rush is over they’re taking it slow.

I’ve been surfing the web all morning trying to find out and what I have read up on so far I suspect it will be a like for like refurb’d model.
I’ve received my return box yesterday which consisted of a jiffy bag and a prepaid postage bag to put the jiffy into and seal. I now need to take to the Post Office so I can request Proof of Posting…
But, I am a little reluctant to send mine back as mine does work ok and is engraved. The battery life is still pretty good for its age. (I can get a few sessions down the gym before the need to recharge.)
I personally feel I am losing out purely because of the sentimental factor being a gift and engraved.… :(
Maybe if I knew I was getting a free upgrade to a newer generation then maybe I wouldn’t feel so bad departing with my old faithful gen 1.

There’s a list on the website of all the countries, I believe it should work for every country with an Apple store, but it’s best to make sure.

Please don’t pick certain phrases out of the entire context… it was general statement regarding most lawsuits where people claimed it was Apples fault while it really wasn’t

If you read through my answer above I clearly stated that they found a specific batch of batteries from a certain manufacturer that have the potential to overheat, etc…
Other then that one has to say that any device or battery has this possibility. If you left your device in the sun at 100°F any battery will probably give up sooner or later.

My nano was neither handled poorly or had a battery replacement and it overheated and died. Is it not a specific battery your nano came with that is in question? The replaced battery should actually remedy the threat of overheating if not replaced with the same manufactured battery. If it’s a hardware issue it shouldn’t matter how it was handled.

To have a defense in future lawsuits… the background story is:
There had been a lawsuit in Japan which showed that a certain batch of batteries used in 1st gen iPod nanos had the potential to explode.

Therefor all registered owners [via Apple device registration] of effected devices have been informed about this possibility.

If you didn’t register your device, didn’t read the news or simply refused to get your iPod nano replaced Apple can now defend themselves that it was a known and publicly announced problem and they did offer a free replacement to prevent it from happening.

Yeah, that makes sense. If you can sue them, why would they replace it?
