[MakeUseOf Poll] Which Browser Would You Install On Your Parents' Computer? [MakeUseOf Poll] The browser scene keeps changing on us, and while Firefox 4 might not have been for everyone, Firefox 8 is a whole different story. Chrome and Safari are getting much more stable, and IE is... Read More . This does not merely investigate which browser MakeUseOf readers deem as the best, but which one they think is simple enough, easy enough and good enough for people who are not computer geeks.

Out of 831 readers who voted, a full 50% would install Chrome on their parents’ computer, 34% would go for Firefox, 7% think IE9 is the best option, 4% voted for Opera, 2% for Safari, another 2% would install an older version of Internet Explorer, and 1% chose none of the above.

Full results and this week’s poll after the jump.

Although the battle between Chrome and Firefox was a fierce one, Chrome managed to steal an impressive lead and is definitely the preferred browser for less computer savvy people. The surprising part was the amount of people who chose Opera – almost 5%. If so many people think it’s good enough for their parents, maybe we should all give it a second look.

This week’s poll question is: Once and for All, Angry Birds – Yes or No?

Angry Birds has been with us for a while. In fact, it’s hard to remember a time when it wasn’t around. There’s almost no quarrel about the addictiveness of the game, but what do you really think about it? Is it the best thing since Super Mario Bros 3 or is it an annoying and overrated fad? This week there aren’t many answers to choose from, so it’s time to decide, once and for all!

What is is about Angry Birds that make people so excited? Or so annoyed? What makes it a really good game or a really bad one? Or have you never even heard of it? (is that possible?) Share your opinions!

Angry Birds seems to be popular because of the "viral" nature in which it spread. It's just like one of those hilarious but eventually meaningless YouTube videos that get a million or so hits in 24 hours just because "someone" found them unique. It's a trend more than anything else (at least that's how it started) but I guess it's become a phenomenon for reasons that aren't entirely rational.

I never saw what makes angry birds so special - if you go to the app store you can find easily a dozen games with the same gameplay. And yet everyone is raving about it as if no-one has ever seen a game like it before. They're even talking about bringing out "Angry Birds The Movie", FFS!

I tend to believe it's something about the characters, although I don't think they're really worth THAT much noise.

It's the sound that makes the game. All the birds have a unique "in flight" sound that make them interesting.

Here's a convo I had with a guy on the Google Support forums (of all places) about Angry Birds. I thought it was pretty hilarious.

That's pretty good. :))) Clicking the pigs really does accomplish nothing. What an oversight!

      Thanks for sharing. :)
