Apple’s AirPort Utility app is one of the many official Apple applications on the App Store, but it is the one that no one seems to notice. We are all familiar with Pages, Podcasts, and iBooks, but AirPort Utility is the app that no one seems to mention. I would be willing to bet that most people did not even know the app existed. For owners of Apple’s AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule, this app is one that is well worth installing on your iPhone or iPad.
AirPort Utility offers the ability to see a graphical representation of all devices on your Wi-Fi network. This makes it easy to see what devices are online at a given time. You can also use this app to get information about each of the devices connected at any time. You can also view and change any of your network’s Wi-Fi settings. You can restart, restore, or update the firmware of your base station right from an iOS device.
You can use this app to get all the advanced information about your network such as IP address, DNS servers, and router addresses. You can view passwords, and even change them if you need to. If there is an error, you can view them from the other side of your house with your iOS device.
