infinite iconsOne of the most underrated features of iOS is the dock. It’s such a simple thing; a place to keep the apps that you use all the time. While it might be simple, it’s such a well-designed little thing that makes using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch so much more enjoyable. Of course, the dock could be better, with the most obvious issue being the fact that you can only put four apps down there in the spot. There is easily room for five, so it seems like a real mistake limiting the number of icons.

Well don’t worry ladies and gentlemen, because if your iPhone is jailbroken, you can download Infinidock and take control of your device’s dock with ease. Want ten icons in the dock? Well, I’m not sure why you would want that, but if you do, Infinidock has you covered. It’s easy to use, and like most jailbreak tweaks, it is completely customizable, so you can make it your own.

Getting Started

Obviously, you are going to need a jailbroken iPhone to get everything up and running. Go to Cydia and search for “Infinidock” and click it in the results. The tweak costs $1.99, but if you are looking for a way to take control of your dock, it’s well worth the cost. Click “Purchase” and go through Cydia’s purchase process to get the tweak on your device.

Using the Tweak

Infinidock does not come with an icon, so you may be a little confused when you first download it. To change the settings for the tweak, you will need to go to your device’s main settings app and scroll down to Infinidock in the list. Click it, and you will be ready to start tweaking everything to your liking.

The settings for the tweak grants you plenty of options for making it your own. The first option you are going to want to set is the number of icons per page. You can set it to as high as ten, but that makes it incredibly difficult to actually click any of the icons. Personally, I think five is a good number, but you can play around to see what works for you.

The name of the app is Infinidock, so just putting five icons doesn’t seem infinite. Well, we are only talking about the number of applications on each page. You can keep adding more apps to the dock, and it will let you scroll through each page of icons. You can change some options about the way you scroll through your icons. You can choose whether it scrolls through the icons or actually makes pages that flip all the way through. You can also choose if the tweak snaps to the next icon when you scroll.

You can also choose a certain page on which Infinidock will start. By default, it will start at the first page, but if for some reason you want it start somewhere else, the tweak can handle that.

If you just want to use the extra icons without scrolling at all, you can turn scrolling and paging off, and just have a single page of icons, with the number you’ve chosen per page displayed.

If you are looking for a tweak that lets you take control of your iOS device’s dock, look no further, because Infinidock has you covered. It’s easy to use, and it does its job perfectly. Give it a try, and you just might find you can’t go back to the normal iPhone dock ever again. It’s featured on our Best Cydia Tweaks page for a reason!

If you haven't got a jailbroken phone, it is worth remembering that you can pin folders to the dock. Ok so there's one more key press to start an app but I don't find it onerous.
