Ad-Aware Pro 10.5: Latest Update to the Quick & Powerful Security Suite [Giveaway]

adawaregiveaway Ad Aware Pro 10.5: Latest Update to the Quick & Powerful Security Suite [Giveaway]Security suites are a big deal. There are so many avenues of attack and you may one day find your computer buckling under the weight of malware and viruses. Surprise attacks are no fun to deal with and that’s why it’s important to have heed the right advice, strong anti-virus, anti-malware protection that will keep you under constant guard.

In the latter half of last year, I actually reviewed Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware Pro as part of MakeUseOf’s Rewards Program. That ended up seeing a good turnout and many users walked away with a license for this useful software package. Well, Lavasoft recently released version 10.5 of Ad-Aware and I’m here to review it and give away 25 more copies!

Ad-Aware Pro 10.5 by Lavasoft is available in subscription form: a one-year license for $36 USD, though you can get some massive discounts by subbing for two- or even three-year licenses. It’s available on Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. But here’s our offer: we’re giving away 25 copies of Ad-Aware Pro 10.5 worth a total of $900 for FREE!

Interested? You should be. After all, you have nothing to lose but tons to gain. Keep reading to see what the latest edition of Ad-Aware Pro can do for you and how you can win a free copy.

Ad-Aware Pro Review

adaware1 Ad Aware Pro 10.5: Latest Update to the Quick & Powerful Security Suite [Giveaway]

For those of you who haven’t kept up with Ad-Aware in a long time, here’s a brief overview of what this bad boy can do. If you want an in-depth look into each of these awesome features, I highly recommend that you check out my complete review. Otherwise, here’s a feature summary:

  • Anti-Malware Scans: Like most security suites, Ad-Aware Pro will scan your computer in three modes: Quick Scan, Full Scan, and Custom Scan. This is the feature that everyone knows about since Ad-Aware made its name back in the day with its scanning prowess.
  • Real-Time Protection: Like most security suites, Ad-Aware Pro will also defend your computer in real-time mode, constantly checking through new data packets and file downloads for suspicious activity on your system.
  • Firewall: Better than the Windows Firewall that comes with the operating system. Offers a lot of configurability to best suit your needs.
  • Other Features: Web site blocking, email protection, identity theft protection, external storage scans, network protection, and gaming mode.

So what’s new in Ad-Aware Pro 10.5 that makes it worth using?

adaware2 Ad Aware Pro 10.5: Latest Update to the Quick & Powerful Security Suite [Giveaway]

Lavasoft has revamped the entire installation process, making it more streamlined and faster to process, and they’ve also added two different install modes: Express Install and Compatible Install.

Maybe you’ve heard about Ad-Aware in the past but you already use a certain security suite so you’ve never needed to switch over. But hey, maybe there are a few features in Ad-Aware that you really love but you don’t want to completely forego your current security solution. Well, that’s why they added Compatible Install.

Compatible Install will install Ad-Aware Pro as a second line of defense on your system, allowing your primary security program to work its magic without interference, then adding Ad-Aware’s security features on top of it. This is a quick and easy way to enhance the security levels of your computer.

And if you don’t use any other antivirus programs, then you can just use the regular Express Install, which will set up Ad-Aware Pro in such a way that it keeps your computer safe and out of harm’s way. Extremely convenient, I must say.

adaware3 Ad Aware Pro 10.5: Latest Update to the Quick & Powerful Security Suite [Giveaway]

The biggest change in 10.5 doesn’t come in the form of additional features, though. It’s actually an optimization patch that offers the following benefits:

  • Improvements in the Web-Browsing Protection engine.
  • Improvements in the detection engine.
  • Improvements to overall speed and performance of scans and compatibility.

There are some anti-virus and anti-malware solutions out there that can catch a lot of nasty bugs hiding within your system, but Ad-Aware Pro not only has great detection results, its scans are lightning fast. Don’t believe me? On 10.5, I ran a Quick Scan and it finished in 3 seconds while detecting a few threats along the way. Now that’s fast.

The Full Scan takes a great deal longer, which is expected since it’s literally going through every file on your system. Mine took approximately 30 minutes but your mileage may vary. Still, that’s pretty fast for any kind of full system scan. If it catches problems that other scanners miss, it’s well worth the wait – and in my experience, Ad-Aware does catch stray problems that other scanners didn’t find.

Again, for a complete review of all the features included in Ad-Aware Pro (the ones that were present prior to the 10.5 update), you can check out my previous review. There are so many great things in Ad-Aware Pro that I highly encourage you to give it a try, even if it’s only the free version.

Again, we’re giving away 25 free copies to all of our loyal and beloved MakeUseOf fans and readers. Please remember that Ad-Aware Pro only runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.

Hope to win this! I just found I have some kind of virus in my system, but can’t figure out how to remove it! Very frustrating, maybe I’ll win this great giveaway and solve all my problems (or at least the ones on my computer).

My hp dv 2000 went “bye-bye”. I’m assuming because of my firewall and windows defender. I would hope to win this. I would be so appreciative seeing as how I should have looked into something like this before but was listening to what someone else told me to do for security . free. all I should have done was checked my email and seen what make use of recommended rather than completely hurting my computer which I love very much. thank you make use of. I hope I win.
