‘Tis the season to be jolly, and what better way to be jolly than to sing? Regardless of our musical talents, many of us dream of playing songs for our family, while everyone sings along. This Christmas, it doesn’t have to stay a dream, with a new and fun little iPad app called Karaoke Guitar for Christmas. The app, brought to us from the developers of Songful, is a free version of the full app, and includes three Christmas songs: We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Silent Night and Deck The Halls.

The principle behind the Songful app is simple: all you have to do is strum on your guitar or ukulele (you get to choose), and tap the forward button to switch chords. The lyrics and chords appear on the screen as well, so you can easily follow along. The app’s interface is very responsive, so you almost feel like you’re playing on a real guitar (well, almost), and the iPad’s sound is loud enough that your audience can hear it and sing along with you.

While Songful, the app’s older sibling, costs $2.99 and comes with numerous songs, Karaoke Guitar for Christmas is completely free and will stay this way even after the holidays. The only downside is that it comes with only three songs. So if you don’t own a guitar, can’t play one, or even if you’re not at all musical, this is one way to get into the holiday spirit that anyone can enjoy.

Karaoke Guitar for Christmas is available for iPad only, and can be downloaded from the App Store.
