All good things must be mocked, and the latest epic fantasy RPG from Bethesda is no different. Today we’ve got a selection of parodies and in-game videos that will hopefully amuse, inspire and tickle you in the right places.

For many who have played the game on a console (myself included) the PC version is beginning to look better and better thanks to all the fun of modding and console commands. While the core game is still probably the best fantasy RPG experience to date, the PC version provides far greater opportunity for general silliness and user directed videos.

Let’s see what the community has been up to for the last few months!

Skyrim Unnecessary Censorship

I previously featured one of these videos at the end of the recent Skyrim online resources article, but they’re so well produced another mention is in order. This practice was popularised by Jimmy Kimmel on his US TV show (though the Internet got there first), and involves taking perfectly innocent footage and unnecessarily bleeping out choice words for hilarious results.

Yes it’s childish, and yes some of them don’t quite work (the author has also produced some LA Noire videos that aren’t half as good) but they’re still very funny in places and are bound to bring a smile to your face regardless of whether you’ve played the game or not.

RageNineteen’s Skyrim Parodies

There are some who might tell you the “Arrow In The Knee” thing is getting a bit old and worn out, and they’d probably be right. Once you’ve heard 20 guards bragging about how they were once too fierce warriors but lost steam due to a flesh wound, it wears a bit thin.

Luckily RageNinteen has put all that pent-up frustration into one video and disassembled the logic behind the statement. Also included are a couple of his videos regarding the misuse of the Dragonborn’s powers in the real world. Let’s hope he makes some more.

100 Ways To Die in Skyrim (Machinima)

Ok, so not all of these are deaths you’re going to encounter on your travels in Tamriel but then again that’s what makes some of them so entertaining. Have you ever drowned while swimming to the top of a mountain? How about being stabbed by your wife for sleeping with another man?

Probably not. So let the guys over at Machinima show you just how badly it could have gone.

Console Tomfoolery

Thanks to the console (command interface, not Xbox 360) the PC version of Skyrim allows you to do all kinds of crazy things, like spawning thousands of cheese wheels and distributing them with a shout.

There’s nothing to be gained from doing this of course, but it sure makes for some funny YouTube videos. Here we have a cheese explosion, a battle involving 50 dragons, and the aptly named “200 Bears Rolling Off A Mountain to Psychedelic Music”.

Fun With Mods

There are some funny, some weird and some flat-out crazy mods for Skyrim. Some enhance the game with high resolution textures and advanced lighting effects and some turn mudcrabs into Zoidberg from Futurama.

Below are a selection of the crazier mods available for the game which are only available on the PC version. You’ll find them over at Skyrim Nexus if you’re interested in trying them out for yourself.

Fun With Glitches

Much like previous Bethesda RPGs Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, there are an unknown number of epic glitches and bugs in the latest Elder Scrolls game. These range from corrupting your save file to all sorts of random physics fails.

Both the bear and sabre-tooth tiger in the videos below appear to have succumbed to a similar glitch, with rather hilarious consequences.

Conclusion

There are a lot more Skyrim videos floating around the web and many of you watching these will have your own personal favourites, so go ahead and share them in the comments. Are there any particular mods you enjoy playing with? Any Dohvakiin-themed humour we’ve missed out on? Caught a hilarious bug that needs to be shared? Drop them in the comments, below!
