		<description>I&#039;m a Merchant Mariner and I like to use the AIS map to see the location of ships where my friends work. AIS stands for Automatic Identification System.

A ship needs to be near a land based VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) to show where it is, so there are a lot of gaps, but I find it useful.
