The official Tumblr extension for Firefox is obviously a handy add-on for posting to Tumblr. With quick and easy ways to post either a photo from or link to the page you are visiting, the tool is reliable and responsive.

Selecting the button from your toolbar will open a pop-up window. After choosing between the photo or the link you would like to post, you also have the option to add a description and include tags. Then just hit the button and you are set. For simple posting, you cannot go wrong with this Tumblr extension for Firefox.

Tumblr Post

Tumblr Post is another convenient extension for sending those photos and links over to your Tumblr page. This tool works a bit differently than the official Tumblr extension in that it will post either the current page or a photo from it without any other actions needed and no pop-up window.

When you choose to post to Tumblr with this add-on, it is does so from the button’s menu. You will then receive a simple confirmation message. The extension also includes an option to write a text entry or view your Tumblelogs. Additionally, you can click to visit your Tumblr page quickly. For the fastest way to post, Tumblr Post delivers.

Tumblr Hi-Res [No Longer Available]

Tumblr Hi-Res is a unique extension in that it will look for high-resolution images for those you see on Tumblr. If one is available, you will be immediately redirected to it.

To use this add-on in Firefox, simply right-click your mouse on a Tumblr image and select Open Image in New Tab. The extension will take it from there by popping open the new tab and displaying a high-resolution version of the image if one is available. If there is no other version, you will simply see the original image. Tumblr Hi-Res is good for seeing those awesome images in a better way.

Post to Tumblr Dmtr.org [No Longer Available]

This posting extension works almost identically to the official Tumblr extension, with one exception. Post to Tumblr will automatically populate the description for you. You can edit this of course, but it does add a bit of convenience displaying the link within the description for you when posting a photo.

For Chrome Users

Post to Tumblr is the official Tumblr extension for Chrome (not to be confused with the Firefox extension of the same name). You can post either a photo from the page or a link to it and include a description. There are a few settings you can adjust as well including a custom URL, the post date, and the type of text editor you want to use for the description.

The extension will automatically pop in relevant tags for you, which you can remove. You can add your own adds tags as well, making Post to Tumblr a useful extension.

Post To Tumblr

Again, not to be confused with the official Tumblr extension for Chrome, Post To Tumblr by mike.cann accomplishes the goal of posting, but works a little differently.

To access the add-on, just right-click on a page you are visiting and select Post To Tumblr in the context menu. It will then pop open a new tab where you can customize the post with a few useful options. You can post the text, a photo, a quote, a link, or a video, each with one click. There is a text editor similar to Microsoft Word and a spot for tags, making Post To Tumblr a great post customizing tool.

Tumblr Savior

If you are tired of seeing posts about a certain topic when you are browsing Tumblr, then Tumblr Savior is the Chrome extension for you. You enter those keywords into the add-on’s Black List and posts that include them will be removed when you are exploring Tumblr.

The extension includes a White List where you can enter keywords for posts that you always want to see. You can also adjust the settings for items like displaying a notice when a post matches one of those two lists, showing tags for hidden posts, and hiding sponsored notifications. For a cool way to view the images on a Tumblr’s page, Tumblr Collage puts them all into, you guessed it, a collage.
