Summer is almost here, which means it is time to put away those skis and snowboards and pull the skateboards out. Of course, myself, and many other winter sport fanatics will miss the joy of ripping down the hill, but skateboarding is more than fun enough to keep most of us sane until that beautiful white stuff starts falling from the sky again. Plenty of skaters out there do not care for winter sports, and for them, the season they have waited for is finally ready to begin.

Did you know there is a ton of apps on your iPhone tailor-made for skateboarders? Well you do now! I am going to tell you about some of the coolest ones I have found in my extensive travels through the app store. Most of them are free, but a couple of them will set you back a whole George Washington. If you are looking to make the most of your skateboarding season, you really should check out these fantastic apps.

Boarder Lounge, Free

This is the iPhone app for getting together with other skateboarders and talking about all things skating. You can use the lounge to post a topic and talk about it with other skaters or post a video of you nailing a new trick. You can also upgrade to the pro version of the app for $.99. This removes ads from the app and adds Facebook connect.

Skullcandy, Free

This app is not just for skateboarders, but it has some awesome features for skateboarders to use. The most important one is the GPS park finder for all 50 U.S. States. It provides all kinds of information about each park such as the price, pad requirements, and features available in the park. It also has tons of streaming music to listen to while you skate. You can also view videos of the Skull Candy team in action.  There are features for skiers, snowboarders, surfers, and MotoX riders.

Skateboard TrickBook, $.99

How would you like to have a handy guide that shows you how to do nearly every skateboard trick to take anywhere? Well with this awesome app, you can. It features text descriptions that guide you systematically through the process of executing each trick. If text is not enough for you, there are also videos that will show you how it is done. If you are trying to expand your trick game, this is a must have app.

Skate Slots, $.99

Now that you have used the last app to learn some new tricks, you should download Skate Slots and use it to keep track of trick competitions with your friends. The app will tell you tricks to do and keep track of your battles for skateboard supremacy. It has a huge database of tricks that it will call, so make sure your game is sharp or else you will not be able to do everything it asks for. If you are looking for a way to make your time at the park more fun and competitive, this is a great application.

Skatematic, Free

After all that skating, you will be tired and sore. Why not download this free application that features over 10,000 skate videos and updates with new videos all the time? It is great to watch people who are much better at skating than you are and get some motivation to step up your game.

Skateboard Logo Wallpaper, Free

Being able to skate well is fine, but you need to be able to represent your favorite brands at all times. That is where this fantastic app comes into play. It features logos for over 130 skate companies perfectly formatted to fit on your iPhone’s screen. You can even choose the background color of the image to match the theme of your device.

Conclusion

While I cannot guarantee these apps will turn you into the next Tony Hawk or Bob Burnquist, they will certainly help you become a better skater and if nothing else, they will entertain you. If you love skating, you should really have every one of these applications on your iPhone.

But you've totally missed Skateable. (skateableapp.com) made by my skateboarder friend!
