If there was one thing the Web was made for, it was for comic book reading. Particularly with tablets and mobile phones. Instant downloads, instant comic book purchases, lots of fan information, and no waiting in line at the comic book store anymore.
But then again, if you didn't go to the comic book store anymore, you wouldn't be able to meet nice ladies.
Today on Cool Websites and Apps, we are going to profile 5 websites for the comic book fan.
ComicBase -- Catalogue Your Collection
If you have a growing collection, then you will need some sort of cataloguing system to keep track of what you have and don't have. Just like books have Librarything, comic books have ComicBase.
The free plan allows you to list up to 500 comic books, and then you have to pay.
Comics Price Guide -- Value Your Collection
After you have finished listing your collection on ComicBase, the next step is to value the collection. One good way is to use Comic Price Guide. As well as valuing individual comics, the site also lists upcoming comic events, comic auctions, news, articles, and a forum.
Comic Book + -- Download Public Domain Comics
Many of the very old comic books are now in the Public Domain, meaning you can download them and read them for no charge. Before you get all carried away though, there's no Marvel superheroes in here. We're talking more Black Cobra, Lone Rider, Forbidden Worlds, and Black Hood.
You can read the comics on the site without registering, but to download, you must register.
Comic Vine -- Read Reviews & Listen To Podcasts
This site offers a comic book podcast, as well as articles, reviews of fantasy articles (such as DVD's), fantasy TV shows (such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), and of course, comics.
Newsarama -- Read News, Reviews, & Opinions
When you're a comic book collector, you need to keep up with all the news and opinions in the industry, as well as rumours and speculation. And there's a video section for all the teasers and essential eye candy. This is one of the best comic book blogs out there.
Don't forget that we have the best advice for you in our Online Guide on Comics.
If you are a comic book collector, which sites do you frequent on a regular basis? Let us know in the comments.
