For some people, gaming on iOS is just a casual pastime. They jump in, play some Candy Crush or whatever the latest craze is, and move on with their day. This is fine, as the device is suited perfectly to such a method of play - many of the games are aimed at casual players.

But there are also some hardcore games out there, and plenty of gamers who enjoy playing them. For hardcore iOS gamers, connecting with others can be quite enjoyable. That's where message boards come into play. They are a great place to find like-minded iOS gamers who are really into the hobby.

If you want to connect with fellow iOS gamers, the following forums are exactly what you need.

Touch Arcade

Touch Arcade is the grandaddy of iOS gaming websites. When I first think about gaming on iOS and where to meet other players, the Touch Arcade forums are the first place that comes to mind. The forums are incredibly active with a dedicated community constantly talking about the latest happenings in the gaming world.

The best part about Touch Arcade forums is how active game developers are on it. They regularly post about upcoming games that have yet to be released, pending updates for existing titles and generally engage with their fans. That, plus the educated, hardcore gamer community makes this a must-visit website for anyone who consider gaming on iOS as more than just a passing craze.

GameFAQs

GameFAQs has a very interesting forum system in that almost every single game has its own board. This might be perfect for gamers who want to talk about a certain game, but it's not ideal for gamers who just want to discuss the general iOS gaming scene. There is an iOS forum, but it doesn't cover only video games.

That said, many hardcore gamers tend to focus on one or two games at a time, which makes these forums a great option. If you're looking for guides, FAQs and in-depth knowledge then GameFAQs will have you covered. When you're finished with a game, you can simply move on to the next game you are playing – forum and all.

GameFAQs has a massive amount of users, so there are plenty of people to chat with, especially when it comes to popular releases.

IGN iOS Gaming Forums

IGN is a large gaming website with an obscene number of users. For the longest time, the mainstream gaming sites, like this one somewhat ignored the iOS gaming scene, but that is no more. Now they embrace it as they would with any other platform, and so do the fans on their forums.

ignios

Admittedly, this is not the most active forum on the web for iOS gaming, but it gets a decent amount of posts each day. The reason I am including it in spite of the relatively small community is that it can be just that: a community. Not having a ridiculous turnaround of posts means it's easier to have your voice be heard, and you might make some friends along the way.

Not exactly a traditional message board, this is still a great way of communicating with people who are into a similar pastime. The iOS gaming subreddit consists of about 11,000 users, so it's considered pretty active. Whether you are looking for tips on new games to play, or want to chat about game development, chances are great that you will find other likeminded gamers here.

iosgamingreddit

Unlike many other parts of Reddit, this community is much less driven by memes and image content, and more by discussion, which is why I loosely call it a message board. I come to this board almost everyday just to keep up with the latest happenings in theiPhone and iPad gaming world, and it's a place all hardcore players should throw into their bookmarks.

iMore

iMore is a very broad iPhone site, and their forums definitely reflect that. If iOS isn't your thing, you can also use this forum to talk Mac. The Apps & Games section is probably one of the more active boards on the site and a quick scan though it will reveal that most of the discussion is about gaming, and that's perfect.

imoregames

You get a little different perspective on this site than the others because the people here are also general Apple fans. The other sites cater to gamers who happen to enjoy playing on iOS. With this site, it's the other way around, which can lead to some pretty interesting discussions.

Conclusion

All you iOS gaming fans who feel like you're alone on an island, now you have others to chat with. No matter what kind of interaction you are looking for from your fellow iOS gamers, these message boards have you covered in a big way. Check them out, register, post, post, post and thank me later.
