I love songmeanings, they've been around for so long, and the large user base leads to surprisingly accurate details. I've learned a lot about bands retro actively just from here.

Nowadays everyone wants to use rap genius, and a ton of bands have official profiles there and comment exclusively. I wish songmeanings were more loved.

Be careful though... I was really caught off guard with the meanings of some of my songs... They sound so innocent, yet, according to these websites, they're so innuendoed... Stick with your own personal interpretation. Once the artist releases the song, it's really up to people to figure out what it means on their own.

All these sites have user generated content. Isn't there any authentic source as to what the artist has depicted in the song?

Good question. I haven't had much luck finding any definitive sources for the artist's "official" meaning. Songfacts and Wikipedia may have the scoop on some songs, but it looks like it really depends on the artist's exposure and song's popularity.

For me, I still can't find the artist's interpretation of some songs, but I've managed to find a few scouring the Web for any old interview transcripts, videos, articles, or books.

        Hi Hitesh & John,

Here is a site that has the artist’s “official” meaning. Although they don't many songs as they are just starting up. Something cool as well, you can read what the artist wrote the song about, but also write what it means to you.
