i am always looking for new music... unfortunately the place I moved to has no dance clubs... it's frustrating as an artist, because I have few demands but the space to churn my own brand of dance butter...

Why not you? Well, there would be several reasons.

First of all, this post is about Alternative music, not Indie in general. ThinkIndie covers a ton of different music categories, e.g. Celtic, Country, Dance, HipHop etc. In other words, it's too general.

Secondly, ThinkIndie only offers free previews of songs, which isn't very useful compared to the sites recommended in this article.

Finally, it's clearly a commercial site because you're also selling the music you're promoting. And this goes hand in hand with offering only short previews.

Taken together, the site simply didn't fit into this article.

Thanks for sharing Allison. I had not heard of Slacker before. Too bad though it's only available in the US, just like Pandora. I may try it anyways. :)

I prefer Slacker.com over Pandora. Same concept, but they seem to have way more variety and don't repeat songs as often as Slacker.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chuck.

Is this your site? If so you should work on the interface! It doesn't look professional. Frankly, my first impression was that it's a link host. Upon closer inspection I found it complicated to use.
A player for previewing the tracks should be provided. When accidentally left-clicking the download button, it should open in a new window, rather than leaving the website to an empty Quicktime playback page.
Just my thoughts.

What about me?!?! http://thinkindie.com/ oh, and btw, while I'm here....

Throwdown! The ThinkIndie VS iTunes Debate Challenge.

The up and coming independent music download site ThinkIndie.com, (online arm of the burgeoning ThinkIndieCollective Empire), formally challenge iTunes, (online arm of the already humongous Apple Empire), to a debate over the future of indie music online, aka. "The War of the Words".
