“Screensavers?” you might be asking. That’s right, we’re bringing screensavers back!
It’s a shame to say, as computers have been beefing up their ability to project insanely high quality video games and movies, we’ve left behind the ambiance and wow factor of high quality screensavers. But no longer; with these easy to install and easy to enjoy screensavers, you’ll put the “awe” back in desktop.
A Brief History of Screensavers
Screensavers were originally created to prevent images from burning onto your CRT monitor — thus the name “screensaver” — which would render the screen forever marked. This was due to the cathode ray construction of the monitor; project an image onto your screen for an extended period of time and the cathode ray tubing would literally burn it onto the screen.
But the era of the CRT monitor passed, and LCD displays met critical receptions due to their clearer images and better construction. Now, desktop screensavers are largely used to create a visual experience of your idle monitor. Let us share some of the most beautiful ones with you.
Technical Details to Be Aware Of
Note that you will have to unzip most of the downloads in order to use the installation file. Also remember that screensavers have Settings…, which you can use to change and add on to your screensaver.
To find the settings, press the Windows key, type screensaver, select Change screen saver from the results, and click the Settings… button. The aim is not to create your own screen saver using pictures, videos, or even webpages; the aim to provide readily available, aesthetically pleasing Windows screensaver resources for your visual pleasure. If you’re lost (read as: Mac user), we’ve got you covered.
If you happen to receive a SCR file rather than EXE, right-click on the file and select install. Otherwise, double-clicking a SRC file will only Test the screensaver without installing.
Install will install the screensaver the same an EXE would, directly onto your screensaver choices.
