Sound Sunday is a weekly feature promoting free album downloads. Every week you can explore music from around the world. In this edition we return to the stage with live recordings from 11 different artists spanning a wide spectrum of genres, from classical to electronic.

Epic Lyrical is a three man band from Warsaw, Poland. Their fantastic live album has been sitting in my ‘to feature’ folder for several months. Finally, I am putting it out there. Four songs can be downloaded for free and two more songs are available for a bargain.

Mr Richard – Live EP

From the album page: “Mr Richard is a four piece acoustic band from Groningen (The Netherlands). The band is situated around the vocals and songs of brother and sister Geertje and Teake Damstra. They are supported by Anne de Vries on double bass, backing vocals and percussion, and Peter Kuipers on guitar, mandolin and backing vocals.
Mr Richard is known for their ‘straight out of the heart’ folk music. The lyrics are personal and the music is pure. The band focusses on writings and singing songs together and have a strong believe in their music; something they are not afraid to share with their audience. Whether this is in a small living room, a pub or at a festival.”

Bagger Bones – Live at the Living Room

From the album page: “Bagger Bones is a Singer/Songwriter from Germany. In 2006 he achieved the International Online Music Awards for Best Male Vocal and placed an original song (“Become”) on the international independent production “A Tribute To Elliott Smith”. He runs a small independent label called Singalongsongs and is close friends to european “nu folk” artists like Mandowar, EvilMrSod and Stephan Imobersteg & Patina. This debut EP from his soloproject was recorded live at home in one take. It contains everything you can expect from a indie live show from minor faults to slighty detuned guitars. What you hear is what you get. It may not be perfect but it’s honest.”

From his Bandcamp profile: “Roem Baur is a San Francisco based singer-songwriter who’s sound is a dynamic mix of soul, opera and 60’s folk music. Drawing comparisons as diverse at Jeff Buckley, Stevie Wonder & Roy Orbison; he has recently release his first E.P. “The Thief” which was recorded over 9 nights in a historic church sanctuary in San Francisco with a 50 year-old pawn shop guitar, a grand piano & a string quartet.”

Koji – Spring Song Vol. 1

Koji is the stage name of artist and activist Andrew Shiraki. In a recent interview with Gaining Ground Media Koji said: “I think the good in people is never lost, and it’s never gone from music. Music is an art form that celebrates potential. If you’re looking for it, you’re going to find it.”
