From his Homepage: "Josh is a lighting/scenic/sound designer, actor, singer/songwriter, improviser, puppeteer, director and a founding member of Blackout Theatre Company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. (...) The album, "For You" comes from Josh's challenge to himself, "I wanted to do something that scared me, while learning something new and growing at the same time, so i started recording. The scary part came when I made myself tell people i was recording, and started sharing my music with others. The experience has been wonderfully exciting, and i've received such great support from my friends and family. It has really deepened my understanding of the music that i listen to by my favorite artists, and my thirst for seeking out new music to listen to. Having learned so much from this experience, i really just want to do it again, and find new ways to make music."

Yellowbirds - NoiseTrade Sampler

Genre: psychedelic

From the album page: "Yellowbirds is the moniker for the musical exploits of Sam Cohen, guitarist/songwriter/singer of the psychedelic collective Apollo Sunshine. With timeless inspirations like Charles Mingus and The Velvet Underground in mind, Cohen created “The Color” by Yellowbirds, his "solo" debut (George Lewis Jr. of Twin Shadow guests.) Double-speed auto-harp glissandos, glowing backwards pedal-steel, bubbling echo and fuzz guitars coalesce into a warm wall of sound. As existential lyrical themes emerge, delivered nonchalantly over psyched-out aural landscapes, the picture emerges of a dust-blown, 4th dimensional Future West. This is Cohen's quixotic world where "only the purist tones can be heard"."
