Great information in the article and the comments. As an online research assistant, I use search extensively for business. My favorites are of course, Google, it's add-on DeeperWeb and SurfCanyon. I have a few narrower specific engines for topics I research more often and/or deeply, but usually those three get me where I need to go pretty quickly.
I've found that using scripts to enhance other search engines is counter productive when I can access one that works just as well w/o monkeying with it. Of course I'm not a programmer so may not be doing that part right. :-)

mojo, instead of this for Scroogle ssl:
https://ssl.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbw.cgi?Gw=%s

you may want to use this for Scroogle ssl:
https://ssl.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/nbbwssl.cgi?Gw=%s

The difference is that nbbwssl.cgi catches a flag that tells the Scroogle program to stay in ssl mode when you do subsequent searches from the Scroogle results page. Otherwise, subsequent searches from the input form on the Scroogle results page will be non-ssl. Apart from this, the nbbw.cgi and nbbwssl.cgi programs are identical.

Well....that's a good question u asked....and let me tell you....yes.....It may slow down the browser....but not significantly, though....If u are ready to sacrifice a little speed for extensibility (like we all do!)....then go for it....:)

These seem to be some pretty cool extensions for Firefox! I am personally not a Firefox fan. However, I was forced to use FF as my browser of choice because I work for kgb.com and that is their browser of choice. (Sorry, I still use that ol' browser "Internet Explorer" lol) Anyway, my question is "Will adding 1 or even 2 or 3 of these add-on's to my FF make it run any slower than it already is?"

Nice post! You should take a look at www.SurfCanyon.com - the application helps people find stuff buried in the Google results by re-ranking on the fly. Please let us know what you think. Thanks!
