10. Flickr PM – Adds useful links next to a users buddy icon

9. Flickr2Facebook – Makes it easy to upload Flickr images to Facebook

8. Flickr Cross-Recommendations – What people who faved this image also faved

7. Flickr Auto Page – Loads all photostream or pool images on one page

6. Flickr Move Comment Form Up – Moves comment form to just below image. Useful on heavily commented-on images

5. Flickr Add Referrer into Comment – Lets photographer know in which group you found their image

4. Flickr Exif Decorator – Adds translucent, unobtrusive box with some EXIF info

3. Flickr On Black – Links to view any image on a black background

2. Flickr Comment Tools – Adds a few word processor type buttons to comment box

1. Flickr Multi Group Sender – Makes sending an image to multiple groups easy

I’ve been getting into photography lately, ever since I picked up my very first dSLR camera (Digital SLR or Single-Lens Reflex) about a month ago. One of the techniques I immediately decided to try out was HDR or High Dynamic Range.

“… high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.”

Sure that sounds technical and maybe it is, but here’s a non-technical definition: it makes the colors and details in your pictures pop out. It greatly enhances your images. See for yourself in Flickr’s HDR group.

Now, I said I started doing this when I got a dSLR camera, but you don’t need anything more than a basic point-and-shoot or even a cell phone camera to get great results.

There are many ways to create HDR images including using software like Photoshop and Photomatix, but here’s a great, free way to do it online at a website called: CreateHDR.com.

MUO Podcast #22: Appdonkey

This week, we’re going to start experimenting with the podcast format again. Several people have suggested shorter podcasts, more frequently throughout the week and so that’s what we’re going to do, at least for a while. I’d love to know what you think of the idea.

Since these will be shorter, I’ll be looking at only one, or at most two items (websites, apps etc.) I’ll also take a look at something in the news every once in a while and an occasional Geeky Fun item.

If you are subscribed to the feed, nothing should change. You will receive the two, three or four podcasts a week in the same way you received the single Sunday show. If you are not subscribed to the feed (what’s stopping you?) then you’ll need to check back in several times a week. I’ll try to keep a regular schedule: Sunday, Wednesday & Friday.

Today, I take a look at a website that lets Mac users browse freeware and download the apps all at once. It’s called App Donkey. Do you know of a site that works the same way, but for Windows? How about a better one for Mac?
