The web discovery and bookmarking site, StumbleUpon, has launched its redesigned app for the iPad. The updated 1.4 version has the popular magazine style navigation, similar to apps like Zite, Flipboard, and Pulse. The new StumpleUpon app features were moved around, with larger menu bar buttons near the top of the home page.

Google today announced the iriver Story HD, the first eBook reader to support Google’s eBookstore. The reader, which looks something like a Kindle and is an obvious evolution of iriver’s original Story, will be released at Target (both online and in-store) with a price of $140.

Google has announced that all Google Profiles withholding names or gender are to be disabled at the end of the month. Google Profiles are tied in to Google Plus, designed to help manage an individual's identity on the web and recently became even easier to manage than ever before.

Skype have just released a new Mac client to allow users to make group video calls and do group screen sharing. Windows and Mac users have had beta access to group video calls for some time, but this is the first official Mac client to enable the functionality.

Google has updated the Google Maps app for Android, unveiling version 5.7. This latest incarnation adds Transit Navigation, a new feature that promises to make untangling the web of bus routes found in many major metro areas easier. A transit route feature was already a part of the Google Maps app, but only provided route information.

Facebook has just announced new video chat features using its long-awaited Skype integration. The announcement come hot on the tail of Google's Google Plus release, which features group video hangouts. Google have recently been rolling out a new design for Google Calendar and Gmail, sporting a minimalist theme. The new look of the Google services is designed to match the recently released Google+. The Google+ design is reported by Techcrunch to have been created by original Macintosh designer, Andy Hertzfeld.

Making the switch from Flash to HTML5 content just became a bit easier thanks to a new tool released from Google Labs. Called Swiffy, this web utility is able to convert .swf files into a JSON file which is seen by web browsers as a JavaScript object. The .swf file is uploaded and the JSON output is spit out alongside the original Flash content for comparison purposes.

Skype has just released a major update for Android users, with the Android application now supporting video calls. It's a big step which now puts the Android application functionality on a par with the iPhone application. But the new app doesn't support all Android phones and you would also need a front facing camera.

Flight and hotel search engine Hipmunk updated its search results with wireless internet indicators on Tuesday, allowing prospective passengers to choose a flight with Wi-Fi on-board before they book. Wireless availability is indicated by a small icon on each entry, with no need for additional clicks or searches.

Last week, Apple released a revamped and much cheaper version of its leading video editing program Final Cut Pro. The new version sells for just $300, down from $1,300 - although the previous version included a suite of other movie production applications. Despite the cheaper price and overhaul of the program however, many veteran users are dissatisfied.
