There are a couple of things that you will need to use PS Remote Play. Here is what you will require:

  • A PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition.
  • Any mobile device, such as an Android smartphone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad device.
  • An active PSN account.
  • A high-speed internet connection.

Using PS Remote Play uses a lot of data, and requires a strong internet connection. A download and upload speed of at least five Mbps is needed, but 15 Mbps is preferable for the best performance.

Since PS Remote Play uses a large amount of data, care is required when using the service while you are not connected to Wi-Fi. Take care not to exceed your data usage to avoid accidentally getting an unpleasant surprise when you receive your next phone bill.

Before you can start using PS Remote Play, you will need to set up your PS5 and mobile device. This process is very easy and will only have to be done the first time you use the service.

How to Prepare Your PS5 for Remote Play

The first step to playing your PlayStation games remotely is setting up your PS5 console. Follow the instructions below to do so:

  1. Open your PS5 settings by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the home screen.

  3. Scroll down and select Remote Play.

If you want to use PS Remote Play, you most likely aren't going to be at home at the time. There are a few more settings you will need to change to allow your PS5 to connect to PS Remote Play while it’s in sleep mode.

  3. Scroll down to Power Saving.
  4. Select Features Available in Rest Mode.
  5. Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet.

How to Prepare Your Mobile Device for Remote Play

PS Remote Play requires that you set up your console before preparing your mobile device. Once you have set up your console, follow the instructions below:

  1. Download the PS Remote Play app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Launch the app from your mobile device and sign in to your PSN account. Make sure you use the same account that is linked to your PS5.
  3. Select PS5.
  4. The app will begin searching for available consoles nearby. Ensure that your console is on. The app should connect to your PS5 after a few minutes.
  5. If using mobile data, select the gear at the top right of the screen to open the settings.
  6. Select Mobile Data.
  7. Turn on Use Mobile Data.
  8. It is also highly recommended that you turn on Notify Me When Using Mobile Data.

Your PS Remote Play app is now connected to your PS5 console and ready to play.

How to Launch Remote Play

Launching PS Remote Play is as easy as making sure your PS5 is either on or in rest mode, depending on your settings, and launching the app on your mobile device.

The app will display the last console you connected to on your screen. If that is not your desired console, select Other Connections to connect to another PlayStation console.
