Hey Van,

You’re missing a few points here, let me clarify below:

1 – Difference in Download Speed

The reason why it’s faster with Download Manager because one of the main features of this tool is that it acts as a download accelerator. In other words using tools like Free Download Manager can significantly increase the download speed of the files from the web when compared to downloading the file using the web browser. There are many popular download accelerator programs around, Free Download Manager is one of them. Hence, it download the file faster than Adobe Reader.

2 – In regards to “changing downloading to strickly Adobe Reader about a year ago”

We didn’t really change anything that would enforce your computer to use Adobe Reader. In fact there is no way for us to control what program would be used by your computer to download the file. The reason your computer uses Adobe Reader is probably because that’s one of the default settings that come with Adobe Reader. Bascially whenever you click on a link pointing to a .PDF file your computer automatically opens Adobe Reader and starts downloading the file. You may change that setting in
your advanced browser settings if you want and even configure it in way
where .PDF links would be automatically opened/downloaded using Free
Download Manager or any other downloader of your choice.

So, as you can see this has nothing with settings on our end but browser
configurtations on your computer.
