3 Ways to Backup Evernote (and Do You Need To?)

Unlike, say, Dropbox, Evernote does not offer a revision history, your content all syncs as-is. This means you could potentially lose any note you accidentally delete from the trash, or any content you accidentally delete from a specific note. If you share a particular notebook other users might make changes you don’t like. You get the idea: information goes away sometimes. As with any software, backups are the only real answer for that. Take matters into your own hands: back up the notes, notebooks and other information you store in Evernote.

Although there are online tools such as Mint.com, the service isn’t available worldwide and it requires that you trust a third-party with your sensitive financial data while you use their online service.

Interview With J.Dash – This Hip Hop Tech Geek Will Teach You To WOP

If you know the name J.Dash, then you know what I mean when I say that it’s time to WOP. I admit, I never would have considered interviewing J.Dash for MakeUseOf – I mean, we’re not exactly an entertainment blog. Curious about someone cool enough to break out of such stereotypes, I had to jump on this interview opportunity and see if it was just a marketing gimmick, or whether J.Dash could really tech talk with us.

Create Great Diagrams Using Cacoo & Google Drive

What do you use when you need to draw a diagram? Do you do the whole thing from scratch? Do you create each and every box with a series of four lines, or do you use a program that creates the box for you? Would you go a step further and use a template? Would you appreciate ready-made images of desk furniture to design your office layout? If you’re anything like me, you’re always ready to make the job as easy as possible. Voice Recording On Android Doesn’t Get Easier Than Tape-a-Talk

We used to talk into our phones so that we could chat with whoever was on the other side of the line. Nowadays, we talk into our phones for a whole bunch of reasons. For example, voice assistants like Siri and the numerous Siri alternatives for Android have become ubiquitous. It just makes sense that voice and phone work together well, so why not use your Android as a voice recorder, too? Feedly, Reviewed: What Makes It Such A Popular Google Reader Replacement?

Now that Google Reader is but a distant memory, the fight for the future of RSS is truly on. One of the most notable products fighting the good fight is Feedly. Google Reader wasn’t an app or an add-on: It lived purely on the Web, so today I’ll be looking at Feedly Cloud, a browser-based RSS reader that requires no external tools to use. We first reported about it as it went live on June 19, but now’s the time to take a good, long look at it.

6 Star Wars and Indiana Jones Movies Visualised as Treasure Maps

We mostly think of movies pretty linearly — from beginning to end; from start to finish — when in fact, they’re more convoluted than that. Illustrator Andrew DeGraff analysed several iconic movies (Star Wars!) and creatively repackaged their plot lines as vintage treasure maps. Andrew also offers the originals which are painted in gouache on a sheet of 18.5×22 inch paper and framed. But we warned, they’re dizzyingly pricey!
