iOS Maps Showdown: Apple Maps, Google Maps, And Nokia HERE Compared

Within a week of release Google Maps for iOS shot to the top of the App Store charts as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch owners rushed to get Google’s free mapping solution back on their devices. Despite the rush, the numbers don’t signal clear cut victory for Google, especially with Apple Maps deeply integrated into the OS and challenger Nokia bringing up the rear with HERE. So which is the better solution?

Death Worm: A Uniquely Addictive Game That’ll Hook You With Its Teeth [Android]

Here’s the thing about mobile games, whether Android, iPhone or whatever else – they all tend to feel the same. You have logic-based games like Sudoku, physics-based games like Angry Birds, and social games like Words With Friends. But Death Worm is on a whole different level. In a genre that’s particularly lacking in action-based blockbusters, Death Worm is fast-paced, fun, and incredibly original.

Photogene Is The Ultimate Photo Editor For iPad

Let’s admit it, the iPad’s camera is not the best in the world, and even if it were, it can be hard to take really good photos with it. Heck, even with a real camera, most photos need some sort of touch up to be perfect. So is there a good way to do this on the iPad? Browsing my way through our Best of iPad Apps page, I found a new app – Photogene.

3 Portable Applications To Help You Find Serial Keys On Your PC [Windows]

If you’ve ever paid a chunk of change for a shareware application or subscription, you know the drill. Serial keys in the form of plain-text strings or files are pretty much the universal standard. The web has evolved in a way that should make it relatively easy for you to track down any keys you’ve paid for, be it by searching through your Gmail account or emailing the vendor directly, but that takes time. If you ever lose one of these keys, the preferred solution should (obviously) be to find it for yourself!

Screen Too Bright, Speakers Too Loud? Don’t Despair: Use Volumouse For Windows!

If your pointing device of choice is a mouse (rather than a laptop trackpad), then you surely don’t just use its buttons – its scroll wheel must get quite a bit of use too. But what do you use it for, really? Wait, don’t tell me: For scrolling documents and webpages! If you’re an advanced user, you probably use it for zooming in and out, too, changing font size with a quick flick of the wheel. That’s all well and good, but it doesn’t even scratch the surface of what your mouse wheel can do.

Low-Cost Tools That Every Techie Needs

It’s been ten years since I took my first IT job, and in that time I’ve collected a bunch of tools that have proved invaluable to me in resolving issues with computers, hard disk drives, printers and other corporate hardware. While I work purely freelance these days, I still maintain a collection of devices and gadgets that can be used to assist with quickly resolving problems that might arise.
