The vast majority of people plan their schedule with their iPhone calendar. It's easy to pencil all your events into the device already in your pocket. But occasionally, your schedule changes, and you'll need to remove events from it.

Here's how to delete events from the calendar on iPhone and iPad.

It's easy to delete calendar events on iPhone and iPad. You can do it right from within the app.

To do so, open up the Calendar app and find the event you want to delete. You can use any of the views to find the event.

Tap on the event to open it up. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Delete Event option.

This will delete the event and completely remove it from your calendar. If you set the time period to busy, it'll automatically go back to available once the event is deleted.

How to Delete Repeating Events

If the event you're trying to delete is set to repeat, you'll get an additional option pop up. This will ask if you want to delete just that one event, or all future events.

As you may have guessed from the options, tap on Delete This Event Only to delete just that event on that particular day, or tap Delete All Future Events to delete any repetition of the event in the future.

How to Delete a Shared Event

If someone's shared an event with you, or Siri picked it up from another app, you'll see a different set of options. Rather than Delete Event, you'll see Accept, Maybe, or Decline at the bottom of the screen.

At this point, you'll probably have the event set to Accepted. If you want to delete the event, just tap Declined. The event will no longer show in your calendar, but you'll still be able to access it in the Inbox if you change your mind later.

How to Delete an Entire Calendar

If you'd prefer, you can delete a whole calendar. This could be a calendar you don't use any more, one of the default holiday calendars, or a spam calendar.

To delete an entire calendar, tap on Calendars in the center of the bottom bar. Tapping on the name of the calendar once will deselect it. This means it won't show in the app any more, but you'll still be able to re-select the calendar to access it.

If you'd rather remove the calendar for good, you'll have to head into the Settings app. Navigate to Calendar in Settings, and then tap on Accounts.

Head into the account for the calendar you wish to delete. Then disable the option for Calendars.

After this, you'll no longer see the deleted calendar in the app. Bear in mind, once you delete a calendar, you'll be able to re-enable it for the app at a later date.
