Yauba: Anonymous Search Engine

Yauba is an anonymous search engine which lets you search the internet safely and anonymously. While major search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo) collect information on browsing habits of their users, Yauba ensures absolute privacy and doesn’t collect any personally identifiable information (visited websites, search history, IP address, physical location… etc.) on its users. All records are automatically deleted from their servers.

Using it you can search the whole Internet or search only mainstream news, images, PDF files, social networks, videos and more. Refine results by keywords or by domain. Click on results to visit external sites directly or click the green “Visit anonymously” link to browse them anonymously through Yauba’s proxy servers.

    Hi Sam,

Are you ready yet for prime time? I profiled you on my blog in February 09 (http://hidemysearch.blogspot.com/), but when i go to your site, you still show as Beta. Also the search results are not really up to scratch yet.
What are your plans for the engine?

I wonder, is there enough of a market for people who want data protection in their searches to merit a service like this? I understand the value of protecting your data, but on search engines it is only used to aim ads at you – which can be blocked. Honestly, the only thing that would drive me to use this engine is the look of it. Very slick! Good luck in your rollout, I will keep an ear out for any more news.

“The bill would make P2P or BitTorrent client development a criminal offense if the distributed software was used for infringement. It also implements an interesting provision called “imminent infringement”, which allows the government to charge people who they think might be about to infringe with a civil offense (for example if you searched “torrent daft punk”). This is among the first official “thought crime” provisions to be proposed by the U.S. government.”

Anonymous web searching will become absolutely necessary in the near future, if you believe in free access to information.
