Wikisensor: Measure A Level Of Radiation Using iPhone

WikiSensor is a handy application for the iPhone which allows users to take environmental quality measurements and measure level of radiation in the area. This app could be a lifesaver in places like Fukushima Daiichi where radioactivity poses a serious threat to human health.

measure level of radiation

Using the application is really simple and straightforward. All you have to do is launch the application and according to instructions, put an opaque adhesive on the Facetime camera. This will prevent any light from conventional sources from being captured. After that, the iPhone will record measurements itself, which can be shared with other people.

However, you should not rely completely on your iPhone to detect any radiation in the environment, as it is not a tool designed to accurately measure radioactivity levels, only a general guide.

The application is only compatible with iPhone 4/4S and is available in iTunes App Store for €0.79.
