ObsessiveInk: Preview Tattoo On Your Body

Lots of people want to get a tattoo but it isn’t until it has been applied to the skin that they realize it doesn’t look as cool as they thought. But of course by then, it’s too late to do anything about it. A web app called Obsessive Ink aims to help out by allowing you to preview tattoo on body, so you can see what it would look like.

There are two ways to go about this. One is to use a virtual pre-made avatar and the other is to upload a photo of your own face.  However, when I tried uploading a photo of my face, the app would then stop working with numerous “error” messages.  So it looks like this feature is very buggy.   However, the pre-made avatars work fine and it is this which will form the basis of this review.

After signing up for a free account, you then need to select your body, male or female :

After this, you need to customise the avatar – you need to make the avatar look like you as much as possible.  I personally found it difficult to make it look like me, as the options are fairly limited.  As you can see though, you can choose from skin, eyes, hair and much more.

Then you need to zoom in on the body part where the tattoo will be :

Then you will see a screen where you can choose ready made tattoos, or if you have a picture of your own tattoo, you can upload it.   You can then use the on-screen tools to resize it and position it properly on the body.

Once it is the correct size and in the correct position, save it all and you are all done :

Looking at the results, I think I’ll pass on getting a Pisces symbol tattooed on my face.  Good that I found out before the needles came out!
