Uship takes their broker fee from the customer before the information is released to the “TSP”. They could care if a person is illegal or not, they got their money.

I think their downfall will be tax evasion since they allow illegal carriers not DOT licensed carriers

Bottomline – Uship is basically brokering shipments without a license. If they were forced to be a licensed shipping broker they would need to be bonded and also be required to ensure every shipping company bidding on their website was DOT licensed and insured. They have been investigated by the Federal Motor Carrier’s Safety Administration in the past but for some reason the FMCSA is still looking the other way and not shutting them down or requiring them to be licensed and bonded. Regardless of how Uship wants to spin it, they are brokering shipments and they are not licensed to do so!!

Additionally, I have looked at the shipping companies bidding on vehicle shipments a number of times in the past and each time about 90-95% of the companies bidding were not DOT licensed – they were the Joe Baggadonuts operators with a pickup truck and/or a trailer with no license or insurance – BEWARE!! Only deal with licensed and insured shipping companies – ask for DOT, ICC and/or MC numbers. CDL (commercial drivers license) is not enough – they have to have legitimate DOT/ICC/MC#’s. Also, be sure to check with the FMCSA to make sure their license is active and for the company they say they are.

I agree with alot of what people are saying about Uship but there a few of us transporters that are busting our a$$ and trying to use this site to help fill our loads in this downward economy. The only way Uship can be truly be successful is to verify all transporters have the proper DOT/MC authority before they are allowed onto the site, but even that won’t stop people from scamming but it would be a good start.

What has been failed to be mentioned is that uship.com allows ANYONE (Legal or illegal) to create an account on their site. There are many instances that have been posted on the uship “ASK MICKEY” forum that were deleted that people are trying to get money back from carriers that stole their money and others who have had items stolen (Boats, motorcycles, personal items).

Uship allows illegals and felons to stay on their site even AFTER they were warned aobut the scammers. Uship collects money from the person who posts the shipment. They call it a deposit buit it is a lie, it is the uship fee that if you mention on their site you can get banned.

Uship has many on there that will bait and switch once shipments are picked up, others who will tell you to pay a deposit, take the money and open a new profile and do it over and over and over….. Nice site if you want to be taken advantage of. Uship doesn’t even verify the “carriers” are legal

We are an office that works with TransGroup and Freight88.com. I got kicked off because I was beating all the bids on ushit. It seems freight88.com posted some truths about uship.com and they are upset.

Too bad, the truth hurts and I hope seeming the scams and thefts that happen non-stop on uship, I hope the DOT shuts them down soon, I know of one death caused by an illegal uship carrier, how many are needed before there is action?

Uship is only secure if you do your homework. Check out every carrier before accepting a bid, we allow anyone to create an account. Actually that is not true. If you a legal one, we’ll end up banning you for some childish reason like you keep telling us that we continually break the law.

If you have a problem, call us. Oops, wait we do not publish our number. Anyway, drop us an email, I’ll answer right away.

Oops again, in the ask Mickey forum there are well over 1000 posts but I have only answered about 250-260 of them

Guess what, you’re screwed. Place youre shipment on uship anyway, we’ll make money even if you get scammed!

lol.. That’s like saying eBay or Craigslist is nothing but a portal for scammers and thieves. Guess what! Fraud happens in every open marketplace! people need to stop being idiots and start taking some personal responsibility instead of expecting someone to hold their hand.

Why doesn’t anyone mention that they allow illegal carriers to scam not only money from psople but they have many carriers that have stolen household goods, motorcycles, etc???

They are nothing but a portal for scammers and thieves. If you want to take the gamble that your items will get stolen or maybe just your money. use uship or should I say uScam. Last month there has been over $20,000 in scams on that poor site.

If you read through their forums you will also see that they are known to remove posts too. That way when people such as yourself search, you will not find out about issues like this.

If you do a search on uship for “remove post” you will see that it happens alot and they hide as much of the illegal activity they can.

It is not a peer to peer network nor are they a neutral venue, they are harboring illegal activity and hiding it by censoring their forums.
