Someone who moved last year

Never, never use a moving service. They charge you a referral fee. It is always, always best to call a moving company, with it’s own trucks directly. I moved from Washington, DC to California last year and waster $900 by going through a broker. The movers laughed in my face when they came to pick up my stuff. The broker picked up $900 for calling two movers. Never, never, ever, ever use a broker!!! They might give you a free quote, but they will charge you a referral fee. Make sure the people you are dealing with have their own trucks.

In that case, you can just use the service to find local movers but contact them yourself.
