When speaking, our tone plays an important role in getting the right message across. When we write down our thoughts, our tone is not always properly translated which leaves room for misunderstanding. This is what ToneCheck attempts to solve.

ToneCheck is a free plugin for Outlook. Just like Outlook’s built-in spell checker checks for spellings and grammar mistakes, ToneCheck checks for sentences that might be misinterpreted as rude.

For example if you type in a sentence saying “It has been annoying me for some time,” ToneCheck will suggest changing the sentence to “It has been concerning me for some time.” Such changes might not make a difference in casual emails to your friends but they may mean a lot in professional emails to your boss or employees.
