Postal Code Lookup is web application from AddressDoctor.com which lets you search for postcodes worldwide. It provides you with an accurate post code information for almost any country, and also shows you the correct address formatting rules.

To search, simply select the country from drop down list, enter the address and click search. The application will then present you the correct post code. For some countries (i.e. United Kingdom) it is possible to enter the post code and retrieve the entire address.

ZipMaps: Find Out Zip Code For Any Place in the US

ZipMaps is a Google Map mashup application which helps you find out zip code for any place in US. It presents a map and a custom tile layer of zip codes over it.

You can either search by location (address, city, town etc) or zoom into map and search visually. The application also displays state links on the sidebar that can be used to zoom to the chosen place. When clicked they replaced by counties which in turn, load links to cities and towns in those counties.

To sum up, Zipdecode is a nice little app to get a visual overview on the desired zip area. On the other hand, if all you need is a dead-simple zip code finder you should go ahead and try ZipSkinny or ZCmap.

Put in any US zip code and ZipSkinny will give you everything you might want to know about that neighborhood. It is especially useful for folks who are planning to move to a new area and want to find out as much as possible about the place. Simply enter the zip code, sit back, and wait for the demographics.

Find out the zip code location, how many people live there, % of married/single/divorced people, average income, number of the public schools in the area, and lots more.

Keep in mind though, while the website provides lots of interesting stats about the zip code area, it’s designed to give only a general idea. In some cases it can be inaccurate. So you can’t use it as a primary source for any serious research.
