The Internet should be free for all to use. Free Wi-Fi access points help this purpose to a great degree but the number of such points is less than what it is supposed to be. Here to help increase this number is a desktop app called Bzeek.

Bzeek is a free to use desktop client for Windows XP, Vista, and 7 users. The app utilizes your Internet connection in such a way that it transforms your laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can do this on your desktop computer too, provided you have a supported Wi-Fi card installed. The Wi-Fi hotspot is free to use and it uses your unused bandwidth.

This hotspot is available to all smart-device owners nearby who can connect to the Internet using your unused bandwidth. You can get paid for the bandwidth of yours that is used through the application and to stop the sharing you can exit the app anytime.

Features:

A user-friendly desktop app.

Compatible with Windows computers.

Makes your laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Enables connection sharing and spreads free Internet.

Unlock with WiFi works by unlocking your Android phone whenever you connect to your home WiFi network, but once you disconnect, your phone will resume its regular locking functions. You still have to enter your password though every time you connect to your home network, to ensure that nobody can just take your phone to your house and unlock it.

The app also comes with a couple of extra features, such as lock delay, so that your phone does not lock right away when you turn your screen off. There are also some battery saving features which can either automatically turn on or turn off your phone’s WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, or Auto Sync whenever you leave your home.

Unlock with WiFi is a very convenient and feature-rich app that makes a great add-on for any Android phone.

Features:

Keeps your phone unlocked upon connecting on a specified WiFi network.

Resumes normal locking functions when you disconnect on the network.

Set a lock delay for your phone.

Set your phone to either turn on or turn off your WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, or Auto Sync whenever you disconnect on the network.

If you hate showing off pictures on the Android screen and are always looking to quickly transfer the photos directly to your computer, then Wifi Gallery is an app you should try out. It quickly streams the photos from the Android phone to the PC and the process is a cakewalk. Start the app, it shows you a URL, copy that and paste it onto your browser address bar and there it is – a neat website with all your pictures. Simple and easy.

According to the app developer, “killing the app can be difficult. If you want to quit, just start it up again and click on the “Stop Server” button”. So that’s probably the only annoyance with this tool – the rest looks good. The settings has some customization options but you could do without them.

Features

Stream photos from Android to your PC.

No setup needed. Just click and go.

When friends ask to listen to the songs on your iPhone, you often have to uncomfortably share your earphones with them. But thanks to an iOS application called myStream, you will never have to share your earphones again. It is a free iOS application that is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.1 or later. Using the app, an iOS device owner can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to stream the music that is stored on an iOS device.

Sweet Home! is an Android app that lets users transfer data wirelessly from their Android phone to a local area network. That means whatever photos you took from your Android phone’s camera while you were out can now be quickly synchronized to your home computer over Wi-Fi. The file transfer starts automatically as soon as your phone detects and connects to the network, or you can manually upload.

It also keeps the files in sync when you are charging the phone, and the app can transfer files to any shared network device that can run the media. Overall, a pretty nifty app for Android users at the right price – $0.

Features

Transfer photos and videos from Android device to a shared network.

Transfer starts automatically when the phone connects to the network.

File transfer can be also done when the phone is charging.

Free to use.

WifiBrowserLogin is a free smartphone app for Android devices. The app automatically detects if the available WiFi spot requires a log in to be connected. You can configure the app such that whenever a log in requirement is detected, you are either notified or a webview for you to log in is automatically opened so you do not have to open a browser yourself.

Features:

A user friendly smartphone app.

Detects if available Wi-Fi signal requires username and password.

Can be configured to simply notify you or automatically open a webview to login.

Will help save time especially when switching between different Wi-Fi networks that require logins.
