HerdictWeb: Check Accessibility of Popular Sites

HerdictWeb tracks inaccessible sites in real time. It collects data on websites from users in different countries. Here is how it works: First you visit the homepage and enter the website URL that you can’t access. Then hit “Enter” to view current reports.

If the site was reported as accessible, then it’s likely that the site is down just for you (eg. problem with your internet connection, corporate firewall). If it was reported as inaccessible by users in your country or other locations worldwide, then its likely to be a common problem.

To check whether the sites are down/inaccessible while you browse, install a browser add-on for Firefox. If it shows green then the site its fine. On the other hand, if the color is yellow, it means a site was recently inaccessible in some location(s) worldwide.

Participate and report on inaccessible websites by clicking “Report this site…” in the add-on. It makes the tool more useful for everyone using it.

Mr Uptime is an extension for your Firefox browser that comes in handy when you come across a website that’s experiencing down time. MrUptime allows you to quickly add such websites to the watchlist and will alert you as soon as the website is back online.
