Google Related: Find Useful Related Content While Browsing [Chrome]

Google has come up with a neat Chrome extension called Google Related that, as the name suggests, lets you find related content when you are browsing the web. It appears as a thin toolbar at the bottom of the screen when you are on a site for which Google has some related content to show.

For example, on shopping sites you can see prices from other such sites, on a local business site you can see maps, reviews etc, on a news site you could see related news, and so on.

I tried the extension and found that it does not appear on all sites. The toolbar can also show related images and videos if it is relevant to the content you are browsing. You need to have Chrome 11+ to get this add-on working.

WebNotes: Easy Web Markup & Annotation Tool

WebNotes is a new toolbar that gives you the ability to add worthwhile sticky notes to web pages – and much more.

Basically, this tool is targeted at those who analyze and share the web such as researchers, power- web users, PR firms and big businesses.

After downloading the toolbar and completing the very helpful tutorial on the website you’ll be able to highlight portions of the webpage, add sticky notes to it and then save it to your profile. It also allows you to convert the webpage along with all of your notes into PDF format so you can e-mail it to people to see your thoughts about the page.

It’s really easy to set-up and use. Within ten minutes I had a PDF webpage saved and was familiar with the toolbar. It will work on multiple browsers including IE, Firefox and Chrome; all of which have their own tutorial to meet the needs of the user.

Springo: Finds Most Useful Sites For Any Purpose

There are so many websites on the Internet on any topic, which makes it quite hard to find the most relevant and useful site for a specific purpose on your own. Spring is an online service that makes it easy to find the most useful and consulted sites in any category and ranks them based on their actual popularity among users.

Simply enter a keyword i.e. “finance” or “movies” into a search box and press “Go”. You will get a list of relevant websites (4 on each page) along with their image thumbnails. Hover with your mouse over a thumbnail to read website’s short description and see categories it belongs to. Websites are ranked according to their online usage statistics.

You can then narrow down or expand your results by clicking on the tabs below.

Download the Springo Express browser toolbar to see similar suggested websites to the site you are currently viewing and navigate to sites by typing keywords in your address bar (ex: “yahoo sports” will jump you directly to http://sports.yahoo.com)

SemantiFind: Cool Suggestion Tool for Searching on Google

SemantiFind is a helpful search suggestion toolbar for your web browser that makes it easier to find what you’re looking for while searching on Google.

It helps you by giving logical recommendations as you type the search query. Reommendations are usually quite relelvant and also include 3-4 sentence long descriptions that popup when you mouse hover over the items.

To get started, first go and install SemantiFind Firefox extension (addon for Internet Explorer coming soon). Once installed, navigate to Google and try searching for something. Almost instantly SemantiFind should start showing suggestions

At the moment SearchFind works only with Google but support for Yahoo and Microsoft Live search is on the way.
