]]> When I get online first thing in the morning, there are certain websites that I always browse before doing anything else. I believe many others do the same thing, these often includes news sites, personal websites or any other web pages that we want to follow up for updates.

It gets kind of tedious to go to them one by one. You can of course bookmark these sites or use an online feedreader or a startpage but the SpeedTile offer somethig slightly different.

SpeedTile is a web service that allows you to create visual bookmarks. Each bookmark is called a tile since it is in the shape of a tile and it allows you to view an updated snapshot of the URL you have bookmarked. It is simple to use, just click on an empty tile and enter the URL of the page you want to bookmark.

The best thing about SpeedTile are the Tabs that can be used to organize different bookmarks into multiple pages. Pretty neat.

I couldn’t find way to add my own sites but I have to say that the list of sites and tools is quite comprehensive. So, overall it’s a nice site to limit the number of browsers or tabs you open each time you go to different websites.

]]> Search.io is a cool and innovative website which aims to simplify your searching needs by bringing a lot of sites in a single page. It allows you search the popular sites which fall in a particular category. The categories include search engines for music, images, books, blogs, news, fonts, recipes, jobs, torrents, tutorials people and many more.

It has a simple user interface and is also very fast in delivering results. As you hover your mouse pointer on the selection box, it immediately pops up the list of categories to choose from.

You can navigate between the tabs by clicking them or by keyboard shortcut- Alt + ‘ Tab Number ‘ . ]]> Samfind provides you with quick access to essential websites and search engines from a single page. Search Google, news sources, images, directions, movie reviews, HowTo websites, price comparison websites and lots more from one place. In a way it’s quite similar to what you get on Google but with a lot more search options. For instance, see the screenshot of my Samfind homepage below

As you can see it allows me to quickly jump between different search categories (search, images, news torrents etc.) and then search top websites in that category. For example, from ‘maps’ tab I can instantly lookup directions from one point to another using Google or Yahoo Maps services.

Similarly from the ‘reference’ tab I can search for something on Dictionary.com, MerriamWebster, Yahoo Answers or Wikipedia. Quite useful.

Samfind lets you access websites in two different ways:

    (1) Search: Enter the search query and then click on the website’s name. This takes you directly to the search results page.

    (2) Go to the Website: Alternatively you can leave the search query blank and click on the website’s name directly. In that case you’re directed to the website’s homepage.

Furthermore, Samfind gives you full control when it comes to the search categories on your homepage. You get to choose what stays on the homepage. So far there are about 30 search categories to select from.
