CityMove.com is a reverse-auction moving marketplace that provides you with an easy way to find movers and get the best deal. You simply post your move job by listing all of the stuff you want moved and let movers compete for it by bidding. Then you need to select the mover you like most.

The easy-to-use on-screen guide takes you through each process and makes it easy to list your stuff. If you wish, you can also upload pictures for hard-to-describe items.

After you are done describing your move requirements (which doesn’t take long provided you know what you are moving), sit back and wait for movers to bid on your job. Most of the listed jobs receive multiple mover bids within 15 minutes after posting. Which mover bid you ultimately decide to go with is totally up to you. You may base your decision on the past mover reviews and quote.

FollowMyStuff is a shipment monitoring tool that tracks and notifies you by email every time there is a change in the movement of your shipment. Currently it can track shipments from DHL, UPS and USPs. Fedex, though, is not supported.

You simply enter tracking number # of your package, your email address and start receiving updates on the status of your shipment. When your shipment is received, it is no longer checked for updates anymore and your email address along with other information is purged from the site.

Packagetrackr is a cool web based utility which allows you to easily track your shipping packages and it includes all the major carriers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL and many more. Just type the tracking number for the package, select the carrier from the drop down menu and you are ready to go. It shows a detailed package summary along with its progress and when it is supposed to be delivered.

There are several ways to watch progress of the parcel using Packagetrackr. It lets you track shipments from your browser, your iGoogle homepage, your RSS reader, your Windows sidebar gadget, your Facebook profile or even your iPhone or iPod touch.

Useful website to keep track of all your shipping parcels from one single place. PackageMapping includes a live map (using Google Maps) outlining the route your package has taken, where it’s currently located and where it’s headed.

Among other things, it gives you some neat details like Distance Traveled, Average Speed, Time Stamps and so on. It’s a pretty useful service, both for sellers and buyers. The only place where it needs improvement is the number of carriers it supports. Currently the service supports only 4 major carriers: USP, USPS, Fedex, and DHL.

As the parcels travel from one point to another you can choose to get notified by email. Alternatively, you can subscribe to an RSS feed and follow progress directly from within your feedreader. Whatever works for you.

Other similar websites that we mentioned earlier include TrackMyShipments, TrackThePack and TrackThis. The latter one works with Twitter and lets you track parcels using your Twitter account.

TrackThis is another useful service that is built on top of Twitter. If you have a Twitter account then you can use TrackThis for tracking shipping packages. The way it works, first go to trackthis and start following it.

Once it’s in your ‘following’ list you can check on the status of the parcel by simply sending a direct message to @trackthis, i.e. 123475756756 Dell PC. From there onwards TrackThis will start tracking your item and update you every time the location of the parcel changes.
