Join.Me: Easily Broadcast Your Computer Screen Online

Broadcasting your computer’s screen is particularly helpful while troubleshooting or carrying out presentations remotely. Normally you need to follow a number of complicated steps in order to properly set up a screen broadcast; however, with Join Me, you can broadcast computer screen within seconds.

Join Me, a freeware application for Windows, helps broadcast everything visually happening on your computer. You download Join Me’s 1.3 MB executable file and run it ““ no installation is required. A window will appear at the top-middle of your screen, providing you with a public URL that you can share with others. Visitors to this URL can see on their web browser whatever is happening on your computer’s screen.

Through the desktop app you will see how many people are viewing your screen. You can change your nickname through the app, which is “Presenter” by default; instant messages can also be sent to everybody viewing the broadcast.

At any time you can pause or disable the broadcasting through the desktop app. In addition to superbly executing screen sharing, Join Me provides you with a conference call number that all people can call on and conduct a joint conversation.

QlipBoard: Create How To Videos Easily

Qlipboard is a free software that lets users easily record instructional videos and add things like annotations, screenshots and other media to them. The resulting videos are produced in .WMV format and known as Qlippits. It’s like an all in one package where you can add your narration, images and drawings, and then quickly share it via email right from the app.

The app is Windows only and comes in both free and pro versions. The free version has storage limits (qlippits are hosted online with them) and limits on the video resolution quality. The video created in the free version doesn’t look that good when you compare it with the pro version, but still, I’d say it’s useful enough.

CaptureFox: Record A Screencast In Firefox

Firefox has tons of add-ons that let you capture screenshots. But CaptureFox goes one step further and allows you to record a screencast along with the audio and finally save it as a video file. Once installed from the Mozilla site. CaptureFox lets you start recording videos with a single click.

A little icon in the status bar shows you how many seconds have elapsed. You can also adjust the audio/video codec and specify a time delay before the recording starts. You can also choose to capture the whole screen or just the Firefox window, adjust the video quality and set frames per second. Once captured, the video is saved as an *.avi file to your hard drive.
