Unhid: Reveal URLs Behind Short Links

Unhid is a dead-simple online tool that does one simple thing, it reveals the actual URL behind any shortened link. This comes in handy if you received a suspicious short link and not sure whether it is safe or not.

The tool provides a bookmarklet which you drag and drop onto your browser toolbar. Whenever you come across a suspicious short link, click on the bookmarklet to view the URL it points to. You may even preview links directly on the site.

Update: The site is no longer functional as an alternative use Untiny or LongURL

Unlinker: Quickly See Full Images Behind Links or Thumbnails

I’m sure you’ve come across sites which post links to images or just show the image thumbnails and you need to click on them if you want to see the full image, which usually open in a separate page. And if the images are in high resolution, they take good time to load too.

Unlinker is a Firefox add-on which adds a “Convert in page” option to your right click which when clicked converts those links into images right there on that page. Even high resolution images are resized and displayed accordingly. You could also add it to the Firefox toolbar and use it from there.

As you can see in the above screenshot, it adds a convert in page option along with the other options to the right click. When I click on it, I get the following photos displayed right on that page.
