One of the coolest things about combining the iPhone’s camera with applications is the ability to take your photos and do awesome things with them right from the device. VicMan Visage Lab is an example of this. This application automatically touches up your pictures to make any people in them look better. It might hurt your self-esteem a little to have your images cleaned up, but that’s the price you pay for unnatural beauty.

What makes this app great is that it requires no graphical design skill. You simply add a picture, and it will process it and make the improvements. After it finishes, you can deselect improvements you don’t think are necessary and see how the image changes in real-time. You can also revert back to original with a single tap, so you can see what it looked like before it was enhanced.

You can also add color and background effects to further enhance your picture. You can also share your enhanced images via Facebook, Twitter and email. This way all your friends will think you suddenly became more attractive.

PictureParty Holiday is a wonderful application for iOS devices. The app is sized at 53.2 MB and compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices running iOS version 4.0 or later. The app’s function is to let you view images in specific theme-based frames and environments.

Amongst the many themes available on the app are included Travel, Milestones, and Holidays. When you select a theme, your images are shown in its respective frames with beautiful transitions. Alphapun.ch: Handy Effect For Transparent Images

Most images in websites are transparent so you can put them on any background. However, the transparent image also leaves a large space around it which means you cannot interact through the image. Alphapun.ch is a handy image effect that creates a mask of the opaque part of the image then punches through the alpha channel so that you can click any link around it.

To use Alphapun.ch, you only need to drag the image from your computer to the app – then click Alphapun.ch It! The tool will then provide you with the image mask with the original image. It will also generate example HTML, CSS, and Javascript so you can easily implement the effect to your website.

This effect is useful if you want to make large transparent images laid over a swathe of text. It is best used in cool product images, life-sized pictures, and pictures with a lot of text surrounding it.

InstantRetro: Quickly Add Vintage Effects To Your Pictures

Instant Retro is a neat web app that lets you add vintage effects to your pictures in a snap. No need to sign up, just upload a photo from your computer and get started. It has a number of options that add different effects to the photo. Some of the effects are Roll, Burned, Lens, Rounded and Fuji. There are also options like the ability to adjust curves, lighten center, desaturate, etc which can adjusted using the horizontal sliders.

The image is public by default but you can uncheck that box to not have it show up in their gallery.

The site provides a URL for the modified image but I couldn’t find a download button anywhere. Of course, you can grab the image by right clicking on it and clicking “save image as..” or by using a screen capture tool.
