If you just want to feel like you learned something new today, check it out. You will understand a perspective that might have never occurred to you otherwise. It combines what will be the norm in a few years: TV style news and interviews with quality of newspaper articles. The coverage is often light-hearted in tone where appropriate, but hard-hitting in terms of content.

The TV function is good. You don’t get this cheaply done stuff with a washed up presenter, bad graphic effects and stolen clips from NBC. They get exclusive pieces and access to press events that actually mean something within their respective genre. For example, when I reviewed the site they had stories about 9/11 and Google’s CEO discussing geothermal energy.

If you have a Facebook account then you can log in using that instead of registering to make comments etc… To view videos, read articles or just browse it’s completely free and there is no need to register.

This is a very useful site and best of all, it works great on the iPhone for when you’re on the move.

Yotify lets you track anything on the web: send out a Yotify Scout to track new apartment rental listings, a sale on a pair of shoes you’ve been looking to buy, concert tickets that have just gone on sale and so much more!

The application is really simple to use and has intuitive and self explanatory interface. All you have to do is select the source and enter the keyword you want to monitor.

It provides you with a number of options to receive updates for items you are tracking; from daily or weekly digests, in your inbox or on the website, etc.

The concept is very similar to Google Alerts. The difference is that Yotify also allows you to narrow down your sources, unlike Google Alert.

You could either directly select politicians from US, Canada, India and UK or select the custom option from the drop down menu and type in the name of your favorite politicians whose quotes you’d like to compare. As you can see in the screenshot above, the homepage gives you a general overview of your feeds along with the latest updates. When you click on the story link it gets loaded inside the Spreed speed-reading player.

The player has a distraction free interface where you can easily focus on the words. There are also options to increase or decrease the reading speed. Spreed also lets you upload and speed-read the Microsoft Word documents. Quite handy.

There are several ways to get the alerts including email, SMS and voice messages. Depending on the alert type you’ll be presented with different choices. For instance, a wake-up call alert can be delivered only via voice message. A birthday or news alerts can be delivered via text message or email. For match scores you can select any notification method you want. Basically, available delivery methods depend on the alert type.

Getting started is very simple. First you need to sign-up and get yourself an account, it’s free. Once the account is ready you can begin adding alerts. To add an alert, simply select the alert type, fill out the required fields, and choose how you would like to get it. Click “Save” and you’re done.
