WatchIt is a free service that acts like your personal assistant in remembering which movies you want to watch and exactly how you want to watch them. For example, if you want to be notified when the movie “Hangover 2″ becomes available on Netflix or Amazon, this app can do exactly that for you. It can also let you know when a movie becomes available in theaters.

WatchIO: A Better Way To Search Netflix Videos

Although Netflix provides a valuable service, its user interface could use major improvements. If you are a Netflix user tired of the native video searching interface, then a site called WatchIO is just for you.

WatchIO lets you systematically browse and view the videos available on Netflix. The site lists the latest Netflix videos that you can simply click on and open up for streaming.

In addition to listing the latest videos, the site separately classifies television shows and movies – this allows for better browsing. Show schedules, show guides, next episode countdowns, and news are also made available on the site.

NOTE: Since many of the videos are streamed through Hulu, WatchIO will be best suited to Internet users within the US.

If you are a fan of Criterion movies and have a Netflix account, then you probably occasionally check Netflix for Criterion movies that can be streamed. Here to save the manual labor that task requires is a web service called Streaming Criterion.

Streaming Criterion updates automatically to regularly check for new movie entries. You can choose to view the movies that belong to Criterion DVDs, the Eclipse Collection, and the Criterion Laserdiscs. You can also have the site display the non-streaming Criterion movies on Netflix. Clicking on a movie title will take you to its Netflix page.

CueThat: Easily Add Movies To Netflix Queue

While browsing movie titles on a website, you may see ones you find interesting. Then you log into your Netflix account and add these titles to your movies queue. This 3-step process is shrunk and made a great deal faster by a tool called CueThat.

CueThat is a simple browser extension for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. The extension lets you easily add movie titles to your Netflix queue. All you have to do is highlight the movie title, right-click on the name, and then select the “CueThat” option. The title will then be added to your Netflix queue.

For browsers other than Chrome and Firefox, CueThat offers a bookmarklet that works equally well.

Txtful: Get Awesome Shortcuts For Many Popular Sites

Txtful is a neat app which provides a quick way for getting things done online. What it does is simple but very useful. It has got quick shortcut links for a huge list of popular sites like Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Bestbuy etc. Register with them, set up the sites, name the shortcuts and you are done. You could now use their service directly from your instant messnger, email or phone (SMS is currently US only).

An example of this would be that if you want to add a movie to your Netflix queue or update your Facebook status, you could just type a simple sentence using the shortcut and send it to Txtful using your cellphone, email or IM. And it’s done. You don’t need to visit the website to do it.

Txtful is currently in beta and is free while it is in beta period. It also claims to be a very secure tool. As they mention:

“We take many steps in order to protect your data, and every bit of information you give us is encrypted using the AES-128 standard, which is the same what the U.S. Government uses to protect its secret documents.”

NetflixInstantWatcher is a website that offers an alternative way to browse netflix movies, as they say, it is Netflix for impatient people. It uses Netflix’s API to categorize the huge database of movies at Netflix which you can watch instantly and hence makes browsing and searching for such movies of different genres easier and faster. It can sort the movies by rating or release year and also lets you search for movies by title, people, best, new, expiring or a random search.

If you love renting DVDs from Netflix, Feedflix is a service which you could make use of. Through your personal Netflix RSS feed, it lets you do an analysis of how many movies you’re watching per month and how much do you pay for each DVD. It also lets you figure out how long you stick with the titles i.e the average time you keep your DVDs. Further, it lets you share you Netflix queues and reviews with non Netflix members.

An interesting feature of this service is that apart from showing you graphs of your own rental habits, it also lets you take a peek on the habits of other Netflix users, showing charts of their usage. Based on that it also provides a list of most rented titles, currently popular titles and the top reviewers.
